University of Wisconsin football (59-0: Deal With It ... or Quit)

No that was "classy", a player shouldn't have to find out his coach is going to another school by reading it in the paper or hearing it on the news. He should hear it first from the coach, etc.

Heck, a lot of college kids are probably still up at 2:30 AM....
You mean like Mike Taylor, who found out Bielema was leaving via the radio? Or how about Ethan Hemer, who found out on Twitter?

It's a start.

Alabama, Wisconsin to play in 2015 - ESPN

Alabama and Wisconsin will open the 2015 season against each other at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the schools announced Wednesday.

The Crimson Tide, the two-time defending BCS champions, and the Badgers, who have won the Big Ten the past three seasons, will meet Sept. 5, 2015. It will be just the second meeting between the two schools, with the first one coming in 1928.

"As a league, we decided that we needed to upgrade our nonconference schedule," Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez said in an official release.

For what its worth, Gary Andersen's Utah State teams have been very competitive against ranked teams. They list to Wisconsin by 2 in 2012, Auburn by 7 in 2011, and 7 to Oklahoma in 2010.

Who knows. Maybe he can make the Badgers competitive against OOC competition for once.

Am I the only one who reads that as the league saying "Barry, your non-conference schedules are goddamn embarassing. Fix it."

That's the opposite from the way I understood it. I read it to mean that Alvarez has no idea what is going on outside of Wisconsin, and that he thinks that everyone does things the way he does them. No one schedules teams tougher than Bowling Green. So, as I read it, Alvarez thinks he is going to lead the conference into some tougher schedules by starting to schedule games like this.

Wisconsin S offers opponents a dare

It's only spring, but Wisconsin safety Dezmen Southward has some words for Badgers opponents who may see the defensive backfield as a weak link in 2013. When opponents study the tape, they're sure to salivate at the prospect of facing an inexperienced secondary. But [Southward] -- the lone returning starter in that secondary -- kindly offers a message to those teams that believe they will easily succeed in taking shots down the field. Bring it on. "Come after us," Southward said following Wednesday's spring practice. "We'll show you we're ready to play. I think you can say that about any team. Who's going to hide four DBs? That's the craziest thing I've heard in my life."
