2025 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Found this question and answer on the other board interesting........

I was just wondering how many corners are we planning on taking in 25? There seems to be at least 4 where we are at the top of their list such as Devin Sanchez, Blake Woodby, Trey McNutt, Mark Zachery and now maybe Galloway. Cornerback recruiting is at an all time high so I was just wondering how many we end up taking

They wanted 4 in the 2024 class and it doesn’t look like they will get it so I’ll guess they go for 4 again in 2025.

Sanchez, Brew, McNutt, Woodby and Galloway are all corners but Brew, McNutt and Galloway could also play Safety so there’s a lot of position flexibility. Walton’s recruiting will help boost that Safety room.
McNutt is going to be a safety, mark that down and that works great for us in terms of future needs. Galloway could be a corner or safety, but I think he slots well where Ransom plays which is essentially a slot CB/S hybrid...no offer yet and frankly I would want the staff to see him work out in-person...I can see the appeal from his junior film, but I get why there is no offer yet. Sanchez we look good for, but I could easily see us not landing him...if we do though, I think he is a lockdown boundary CB. Woodby I see as an ideal nickel CB with the ability to play outside. Brew is a true outside cover corner, just put him on the opponent's best WR and they are eliminated.

In a nutshell, my '25 DB wishlist for now goes Brew, Sanchez, McNutt and Woodby. Brew and McNutt you can pencil in, and Woodby looks good. That would be an insane DB class.

What sort of impact is there on CB/S recruiting when they have the ability to go up against the best WR recruits for the next 3-4 years? I'm assuming it helps, but what do I know.

im with you on Brew being a big Richard Sherman type of CB. But I’ve also seen several sites now thinking he will grow into a large S similar to Styles.
And I think at this time, Zackery is a little more realistic than Galloway(though it’d be sweet to land both).I think he’d be the next pure CB in this class next to Sanchez. The rest of the guys can play CB or S, depending on how they grew and develop

Kids can definitely grow into a new position, but for now I see Brew being a jumbo CB with speed. If he turns into a Styles type situation, I'm cool with it but I think he'll be a freak CB at the end of the day.

Zackery is one I like for sure. In my mind, if we land Brew, Sanchez and McNutt, the rest will fall into order.

Another Ohio kid who the Buckeyes are starting to show a lot of interest in according to Givler is Kentrell Rinehart. He will be on campus this weekend. Was leading the state in rushing over the first 4 weeks.

Givler believes if this kid was in any other class he would get an offer but the 2025 class just has so many top tier RBs with high interest in Ohio State, even two others right in Ohio.

Ironton, Ohio product Shaun Terry is currently a three-star on his 247Sports player profile. A 5-foot-11, 180-pound athlete, Terry currently holds eight offers with schools in the mix including Wisconsin, West Virginia, Michigan State, and Illinois. That said though, Terry is seeing some increased attention and was invited by Michigan’s staff for this weekend’s game and his plan is to make the trek north to see the Wolverines on Saturday.

some interesting chatter on 11W forums about our 2025 RB search. There are 2 top 10 backs (Marquise Davis and Lamar Bo Jackson) who OSU leads for in state plus they are in the top 5 for the #1 rb in nation (Jordon Davison) who happens to play for Mater Dei in Cali and be rumored to be a Texas lean. Do you as a staff say "we are Ohio State and we will not give up in that recruitment" and risk losing 2 in state backs? Im of the mind you lock in at least Davis from Cleve Hts now bc from all accounts he is ready to commit if the staff allowed it.

I saw that and I agree with the majority that they should definitely accept Davis into the class and star chase from there.

From Rivals: 2025 five-star safety Jonah Williams from Galveston (Texas) Ball said “he thinks" he's heading to Ohio State this weekend, not Oklahoma

NEW

Yeah ON3 confirmed him earlier this week. He was being recruited initially as a Safety but has now grown into a LB. Perry Eliano remains his lead recruiter, though. Big target.

Wiltfong on the 2025 DB class:
Ohio State could sign a special DB class in 2025.

They have the nation’s #2 CB Devin Sanchez, the nation’s #3 CB Dorian Brew, the nation’s #4 CB Trey McNutt, and the #1 player in Indiana, CB Mark Zackery IV, all in to visit this weekend.

Ohio State is at the top or near the top for all four of those players.

Every time I see Mark Zackery IV he’s wearing Ohio State gloves. And Ohio State is in an excellent spot with Trey McNutt.
