tOSU Recruiting Discussion

These are players who look to play a significant role this year who can possibly turn pro next year.

Barrett
Baugh
Booker
Campbell
N. Brown
Conley
M. Hill
Holmes
Hooker
Hubbard
J. Jones
Lattimore
Lewis
McLaurin
McMillan
Price
Samuel
E. Smith
Sprinkle
Webb
Worley

All of them aren't leaving, of course, but you can definitely make a case for 6-8 of those guys leaving.
Good lord, looking at that list, I could see 8-12 kids leaving for the NFL! That's a lot of young talent

I can see Conley and McMillan going pro, maybe one more secondary player and possibly an O-line player but everyone else I see staying another year.

I don't think Barrett goes pro unless he absolutely demolishes every opponent on his way to a landslide Heisman Trophy. Certainly a possibility, but I just don't see him leaving for the NFL after this upcoming season.

Baugh, Campbell, Brown, Hill, Hubbard, McLaurin, Smith, Sprinkle, and Worley still have much to gain from an additional year.

I'm on the fence with Samuel. The more the NFL continues to evolve into a QB/WR/TE dominant league, hybrid players like Samuel's stock will continue to rise. His hands have continued to improve catching passes. A huge statistical season could propel him into mid to low first round territory, and that wouldn't surprise me at all.

I'm with TooTall. I see that list and see a lot of talent that I am excited we will get to watch develop this year. But, I struggled to find 5 people on the list who would go pro and can't get close to 8 or 12. I do not think Barrett will go, but he could. I expect that McMillian and probably Conley will declare. In fact, I'd say McMillian is all but certain to declare. I could see Hubbard going too. Beyond that, maybe Samuel. I'm curious, @pnuts34 how do you get 8 to 12?

This is a very true statement if it was last year. Conley was on the edge of being able to go pro and McMillan could have if he was eligible.
Barrett could have gone pro last year if he had another killer year (but he didn't), so repeat for this year.
The other players listed do have much to gain from an additional year, but they still have a year to play before they have to decided. A couple of them will probably gain that experience. Plus on offense we are leaning a lot on sophmores that haven't really played (some injury some just weren't ready). With the offense we run someone will step up and be the primary target that that person could likely declare. That is just pure speculation, but it happens every year in several teams across that country when their entire receiving corps from the previous season are gone. Remember urban's first real recruiting class who in 2014 when we had no starters returning and then 5-6 sophmores that we really knew little about took over and after 15 games would have been drafted if they were eligable? Everyone coming into their 3rd year of eligibility would be his second recruiting class, which was just as good, but they had to sit behind a ton of NFL ready talent and the games were stupid close until the end so they didn't get much time as sophmores. Now it's finally their turn and they are hungry.

I don't expect them all to go, but I could see us losing 7 early from that list (I see 3 guys that I would expect to go (Conley, McMillan, Hubbard) and 2 more will probably have great years and go, and 2 more that would benefit but want to give it a shot). I bet we get 10 guys drafted (sending 10-12).

I got 2 players who defied all fans logic and went pro last year, Jalin Marshall and Tyvis Powell. Both could've used another year at OSU and went for the money. That's why I see 8-12 leaving to not risk getting injured for free in college when there may be financial issues at home or some may not like school. How many fans even knew that Corey Smith had so many children? You don't think that another player may be in a similar scenario and an NFL check is more important than going to a class? Fans don't look at a players scenario besides what they do on the field, not realizing these kids have lives outside of the field

I would think so and Davis could play center and put Moretti at guard. All those guys are versatile. However, if you go back to the '16 class, I think Wohlabaugh is the center of the future if he pans out.
If bring up the '16 class, by the time Salyer were to hit campus(hopefully as a Buckeye), Michael Jordan would be King Slob and the O line in 2-3yrs could be:
Myers
Davis
Wohlbaugh
Jordan
Carman

Have mercy!
