tOSU Recruiting Discussion

I've gone on record saying another elite DT in this class like Tufele is big for me. I also want Akers AND Dobbins very badly. Having said that if an Akers commit pushes Dobbins out I would be comfortable with 1 RB this class. Especially with Snead already in for '18. Take a 2nd RB next year I guess since the staff would have so long to work on it.
I agree with your statements. But just to play devils advocate a little here, say we bring in only 1 RB for 2017. Wilson graduates and Samuel has a very real decision on going pro by seasons end(barring injury). That would leave us with Weber and Williams at true RB and McCall at HB, not much depth at all. Why not go after another RB in 2017, especially with the way Urban likes to run the ball?
Though I do like the thought of bringing in Tufele, or even another OL like Trey Smith for example, or even an in state guy that has shown hunger to want to be a Buckeye. Can't ever have enough big uglies

Sounds like they want two rbs. But what if we land a commit from gill? That's two elite rbs for 2018, provided we keep both.
I'm assuming Samuel is gone, so that leaves us with 4 backs next year, 3 true rb plus 1 hybrid. All 3 look truly elite with either Akers or dobbins. Both of them might start as true frosh at their home state schools. That works but has zero space for injuries or busts. I don't like it. Need 2 for 17.

You're forgetting about McCall at HB who will see carries. So by 2018 the RBs would consist of: Weber, Williams and Dobbins/Akers. HB would be: McCall and (possibly) Gill.
Though his comments didn't necessarily say he was out if Akers were to commit, if Dobbins were to decommit, then what? That's where an in state kid like Ellison may get looked at

My only concern is missing on both. Would like both but would love who WANTS to be here and eager to work hard.

Big uglies you make the rockin' world go 'round (or something like that.)

Though I don't like the possibility of losing Dobbins, if the Bucks can land Akers, that still leaves us with the same 5 spots we've been guessing on (Grimes, Lindsey, Okudah, stud, stud,) and Akers wouldn't be taking one. That means another stud (hopefully Tufele or Smith,) can squeeeeze in to this amazing class. The RB depth would still be what it is since we wouldn't be landing two, but it is hard to find much else to complain about in the current state of Buckeye recruiting.

My only concern is missing on both. Would like both but would love who WANTS to be here and eager to work hard.

Agreed

If Weber is as good as everyone hopes, he may not be here in 2018.

For the record, that list includes the #4, 11, 24, 25 and 37 recruits per Scout. Four of those are rated 5 stars and they represent a quarter of the remaining uncommitted athletes in the top 37 in the nation.

And I just realized that in framing it this way I simply ignored Harris who is the #13 rated WR in the class and falls just outside the top 100. Such is the state of recruiting under Meyer.
