tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Cornell, Sweat & Hilliard
Those 3 could be standing on an elevated platform above a field of turf taking turns hoisting a crystal trophy in a few years, confetti raining around them and looking back at this pic as the start of something special.

Cornell has a deadly first step. Only a couple clips, but Green was struggling pretty bad...really will need a lot of work on his technique and building his confidence to just plan the man across him. Kirk is just a lightning bolt.

I decided to compile a ranked list of OSU & UM targets in this class, limiting it to prospects with real interest in those schools. Let me know if I left anyone out.

scarlet text = OSU recruit, Blue text = UM recruit, text = both schools. Bold = verbal

Overall rank - Position Rank - Stars - Name - notes

02. OLB #1 ***** Malik Jefferson (A&M lean? OSU getting a visit vs ILL, not really an intriguing game)
06. DE #2 ***** Josh Sweat (OSU in top-3)

11. CB #3 ***** Iman Marshall
14. DT #4 ***** Tim Settle
19. QB #2 ***** Torrance Gibson (recruitment just starting. Aub/Ten were leading, fading off, OSU climbing back in?)

22. DE #5 ***** Keisean Lucier South
25. WR #3 ***** George Campbell (former UM verbal, staying in state?)
26. TE #1 ***** Chris Clark
34. RB #1 **** Damien Harris (OSU lean?)
35. WR #4 **** Christian Kirk (OSU - A&M battle)

41. WR #5 **** Brian Cole (OSU, UM, MSU battle)
48. LB #5 **** Jerome Baker (OSU - UF battle, announcing 7/11. Will he pick UF? Will it last? Or Muschamp?)
58. MLB #1 **** Justin Hilliard
60. OG #4 **** Matthew Burrell (OSU lean?)

77. DE #11 **** Jashon Cornell
84. S #6 **** Rashad Roundtree
88. RB #9 **** LJ Scott (OSU - MSU battle. MSU led big, then he was done to OSU, now it's debatable)
90. DT #10 **** Neville Gallimore (OSU's top target at DT?)

101. OLB #8 **** Asmar Bilal
104. RB #14 **** Mike Weber (B1G battle)
110. RB #17 **** Eric Glover Williams
114. MLB #5 **** Darrin Kirkland
136. OLB #11 **** Nick Conner
138. DE #19 **** Tyrone Wheatley
141. CB #19 **** Tyree Kinnel

154. OT #12 **** Drew Richmond
160. CB #20 **** Jordan Whitehead
182. S #12 **** Will Sunderland
184. QB #9 **** Alex Malzone
190. DE #24 **** Darian Roseboro
195. OLB #15 **** Tyriq Thompson

204. WR #26 **** Van Jefferson (OSU, UGA, TN - announcing soon)
215. OT #20 **** Grant Newsome
218. DE #25 **** Dre'Mont Jones
261. CB #32 **** Garrett
Taylor
290. OT #30 **** Patrick Allen
N/A. QB #25 **** Joey Burrow

N/A OG #23 **** Jon Runyon
N/A MLB #10 **** Joshua McMillon
N/A WR #41 **** Auden Tate

N/A. C #8 *** James Daniels (can OSU beat out Iowa and big bro?)
N/A. TE #17 *** Josh Moore
N/A. OT #49 *** Kevin Feder
N/A. CB #57 *** Jamel Dean
N/A. OT #59 *** Grant Schmidt
N/A. WR #70 *** Adrian A.D. Miller
N/A. WR #82 *** Tyler Green
N/A. LS #NR ** Liam McCullough

I personally would've loved to see EGW at the Opening. I know he's had some off the field issues the past few months, but he'd excel at a setting like this and make a great Sparq score and in 1 on 1 drills. His catch over Webb at FNL last year was a thing of beauty

Let me know if I left anyone out.

Nice list. Thanks for doing this. I feel like Devante Peete, Venzell Boulware, Isaiah Prince, Mirko Jurkovic, Christian Wilkins, Nyheim Hines, Anree Saint-Amour, Damon Arnette, and Deandre McNeal are very much in play for OSU at the moment. Not so sure about Tim Settle or George Campbell. Of course, it seems that no one is ever really out of play with UFM and staff. And of course, this list will change dramatically by September. Still fun to look at this comparison though. Not that you guys need another thing to track, but it would be cool to see such a list stuck to the top of the forum and periodically updated...

Oh, and A.D. Miller is committed to the Illini, at least for the moment.

Would there be any consideration for a 1 year QB grad student transfer, ala Russell Wilson and Wisky? Obviously it depends on how the young QBs perform behind Braxton this fall but the jury is out on their readiness.

Jones and Barrett need some reps in a game atmosphere before we can think about transfers. This year was the first time they've gotten meaningful reps in practice even, Barrett was coming off of a major knee injury and Jones barely passed the ball last year, so there will be a little rust and inefficiency with both. Think of how long it took Braxton to progress, and even TP. Dual threat QBs tend to take longer to progress as passers because most of their lives their athleticism has gotten them by
