tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Hmm kind of fizzled out at the very end this year but we already had a ridiculous class lined up, especially with the November-January 4 stretch. One thing to keep in mind is that even though we closed with some surprises in Dontre, Clark, and Bell, we got alot of those types earlier on in the process this year. Even though it is a bummer that the ship has sailed on Thomas/McDowell/Giesicki, we had already addressed our needs with big time talent by the end of the AA games...everything else was just going to be icing.

And for what it's worth, Njoku is a project but we can afford to take time to develop his tremendous athleticism into a complete product with Heureman, Vannett, and Baugh. Plus I think it gives us the ability to take an elite guy in 2015 at TE, like Chris Clark or Conrad.

I was really hoping for one of the DTs to help round this out. But what an amazing class! Well done, well done indeed.....

Same here in terms of high-end talent, but at least depth will not be an issue. We have Bennett and Hale as seniors, Carter and Schutt as a juniors, potentially Farris as a sophomore, and Hill, Sprinkle, and maybe Munger as freshmen. Plus Bosa and Diesel can slide down. I also think there is a decent chance Thompson develops into a 3 tech. In any event, there will be a need at DT for the 2015 class. Luckily guys like McLean, Settle, Shy, etc. are realistic names and big time talents.

The more and more I look at who is left WITH OFFERS and the lack of transfer rumors, the more I think the staff has their 2014 recruiting class completed. This is the last year for 82 scholarships and I know they have until the Fall to have that number at 82 but not much noise or movement one way or the other. Granted a few players may move on or medical harships will come into play into the Spring and Summer but I'm not seeing it like years in the past.
Transfers often happen in the spring or even summer. Don't have to be at any particular number until the fall. I would be shocked if we didn't have at least a couple.

Not sure what it is but Dixon always has that look on his face of a big time player. I know it takes more than that but he just has that look in his eyes of confidence I love to see in a WR .

Yeah, well Nuernberger looks like he should be playing QB for Alabama.

Quick question for anyone following recruiting a bit closer than I am this year: Who of the 2014 commits will see the biggest impact on the field at WR/H-back/TE?

Also: Who of the 2013 commits will see the biggest impact at WR/H-back/TE?

I'm still a Jalin Marshall fan, and I hope he does big things SOON. What does everyone else think?

For '14, my guess is that maybe Dixon gets time on the perimeter and Samuel gets significant time at the Pivot. Not sure if we find a way on Dixon but I really think we'll find a way with Samuel.

For '13, I agree on Jalin. He made plenty of noise with his talent but he just needed to adjust to the position. For anyone to have a Harvin comparison in terms of style, I think it's Jalin. Incredibly quick, strong build to get multiple touches, and is explosive with the ball in his hands...plus he can block with his frame if he is willing. I think Jalin makes a big impact next year. Also, Clark looked prime for some PT before his injury. If he comes back healthy, we could see him stretch the field for us. But the biggest impact from '13 will be Corey Smith (though he technically will be a redshirt junior). All reports said he was the best receiver at bowl practices and down the stretch by a significant margin. Heck, he might take the #1 spot and have Devin at #2.
