tOSU Recruiting Discussion

According to 247sports, OSU also has the #1 class for athletes as well. for those keeping that recruiting score for 247, OSU is listed as:
#1 LB
#1 DB
#1 Ath
#2 OL
#3 WR

Yeah, not bad :urban2:

On a sidnote, they made a good point of using noah brown as an H back. His size makes sense being able to bulk him up 10-15lbs (I predict he would redshirt anyway) and he could be a great TE mismatch, even better than Njoku, imo

Agree and next year we will have to address our 123 rank at TE. Since we don't have any full backs we will TE's that can block.
Perhaps if your model included any knowledge whatsoever of Urban's offense and TEs at Florida, this rant would hold water. As it stands, I'm not interested in doing your research for you.

2 surprises for me
Urban Meyer's 5 best recruits before he arrived at Ohio State (non-Tim Tebow edition): Buckeyes recruiting

I did not want to put this in Urban's thread because it would have went way off-topic
Article quote:
He joined overall No. 1 player Ronald Powell, a defensive end from California, and defensive tackle Sharif Florida, the No. 4 overall player and Ohio State target from Philadelphia.
Nice proof-reading on their part... :roll1:

The Buckeyes could find themselves adding another preferred walk-on to the program soon, as Walsh Jesuit offensive lineman Alex Conley tells Land-Grant Holy Land that he will probably be making his college decision at some point today. Conley has a hard choice ahead of him. The 6'4 290-pound Stow-native currently holds numerous scholarship offers from FCS conference programs, including Duquesne and also has the chance to walk on at Penn State and Purdue.

I really like this. I always "hate" to hear coaches talk about not having enough offensive linemen to line up and practice or to play the spring game. There is always that outside chance that he will get playing time also.

So, this is in relation to J. Jones' teammate Shelby Spence coming for an official visit...am I addle-brained or do preferred walk-ons who took an official visit to their eventual school have to be converted to scholarship if they play early? I seem to remember this discussion coming up in regards to Jon Thoma, who was a holder and served as the bridge between Trapasso and Buchanan at P.

EDIT: Though looking through his thread, Thoma only got his fifth year paid for, despite lettering thrice. So I must be misremembering.

Is going the Yao Smith route (straight academic scholarship) an option with Spence? If he even wants to pursue it, given the offers he has from Ivy League schools and UChicago.

I am so ready to put this class in the books. Lots of studs already and I can't stop fretting over the final pieces. I'm over it. Just looking forward to the pressers tomorrow and hearing from our new coaches and some players then it's on to spring ball.

Obviously, there is room for Malik, and I believe he will be a buckeye. But if he doesn't, then that sort of implies that there is room for one OTHER player? Since this is the last year of the scholarship reduction, UFM must have someone lurking out there, ready to pounce on the last opening.
