tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Michigan on the recruiting success trail. Seem to remember that all too well, last year. All of Buckeye Nation (me included) were bewailing and bemoaning how Michigan was 'stealing' all of Ohio's blue blood stars.

Then at the end, it seemed like several Wolverweenie 'wannabes' fled the coop for other schools, and tOSU surged forward, not stopping until they were nipping at the heels of Alabama. I don't wish to pretend I understand Urban's 'non-commitable' offer flooding, but I do understand success when I see it before me. So everyone relax (easy to say, hard to do) and let Urban's magic work itself out. Now all I gotta do is mind my own medicine.....too many offers to rb's and lb's, where's the beef?

Such a trolling article. ESPN has Michigan in the bag. They hire Wolverine fans as their recruiting reporters and regular reporters for the Ohio State beat. It's rather shameful really.

If any Buckeye fans subscribe to that bastardized version of recruiting coverage, they're wasting their money.

I agree completely about the concerns on the O-line. However, I think the coaches are comfortable with who they have and their ability to coach and convert if needed. When Urban and staff took over, I truly thought the O-line problems (numbers wise) when be taken care of and after some thought realized it might take three years + (this being the third) to get the talent and numbers up.

The improvement of the O-line last year can be contributed to coaching up talented guys. It was very noticeable to me. Just think if the guys from Block-O had this type of coaching.

I feel this class will finish with three (maybe four) additional top-tier offensive linemen (1 JC OT (min) and one true OT and one G/T/C combo).

Who's not relaxed? I imagine there must be some panic happening on some of the other boards, but when is there not panic on those other boards? I wouldn't know though, because I stay away from that nonsense.

It's all entertainment. All the talk about tsun's greatness, recruiting victories, etc. makes The Game and National Signing Day that much sweeter.

QB Watch '14

Well, they say watch what they do, not what they say. I guess the same can be said for the staff?

For you QB gurus out there, anyone care to compare / contrast the two recent QB offers with each other & Barker?

You can probably add darlington to that list of comparisons and omit barker. Imo it seems there's been a mutual parting of ways between staff and recruit. I could see barker now heading to UK. But the 3 that we've now offered look very talented. It would be interesting to hear about all 3

I just don't get it with Barker. He had the skillset; big arm, big tough body, and the ability to run the zone read. His biggest deficiency was probably footspeed, but it's not as if that's a huge strength for either of the other QBs we offered.

Plus, he wanted to be a Buckeye and he would have been a leader in recruiting. I guess I just don't get it. I hope it's a situation where the staff just rated the other 3 ahead of Barker and not a situation where Barker told the staff he wasn't interested anymore.

Foot speed is a strength for Harris and Darlington is no slouch either. The outlier is Allen but he is a phenomenal passer.

It is always tough to see kids who love ohio state get left behind but with Meyer it is a lot easier to stomach knowing how well he closes. Getting the top qb in the land would be an acceptable consolation prize :p I am impressed with Allen's maturity and love for Ohio State to still be that enamored by an offer "late" in the process. Too many let their pride get in the way of their heart. Kids have every right to move forward without the school that snubbed them but if it is the offer you wanted it should still hold merit eight to ten months before signing day.
