Game Thread tOSU at NW'ern, Oct 5, 8 ET, ABC/ESPN/ESPN2

Northwestern is arguably the second best team in the Big Ten with undoubtedly the second best coach in the league. Anyone thinking this will be a plunger game is sadly deluding themselves.

I don't think it'll be all that close. I'm not happily nor sadly deluding myself. Wisky's OL was big and held every damn down. If tOSU scored on their second drive, I believe that game would've been lopsided.

I expect NW to make a game of it, but I also think Bucks win by 20.

Northwestern has lived and died by the pick 6.....

They got 2 against Cal in a 14 point win

and 2 against maine in a 14 point win

The key to this one is not to hand it to them with turnovers

345 yards is the least amount of yards theyve given up in a game....and that was against Western michigan who did not even top that against Kent State this week......

NW is the yearly dark horse to win the B1G during the non-conf games. They're usually sporting a good record, if not undefeated, and since no one watched any of their games, and their stats look good, they get hyped. And nearly every year, by the time they play tOSU, they've been brought back down to earth after losing to a couple middle of the road B1G opponents. tOSU beats them as well, they win 6-8 games, and play in a bowl nobody watches. I'm not going to be to worried about NW until tOSU loses to them more than once in 20 yrs. I am happy that this year, tOSU is the team that gets to derail their happy train.

Just checked out the highlights to their previous games and boy are they a lucky team. If OSU can keep track of their receivers I think this is an easy win. I just hope Braxton doesn't have a game where he tries to be all things like he has a tendency to do because NW eats those opportunities up.

I'm not buying Roby just getting owned. It was obvious he was hurt early in the game. Three years of watching him shut down all kinds of receivers says he was hurting all game. Not that Abacus isn't a good receiver, he is. I just don't think he's "torch an AA all game long" good

NW passes well. We seem to struggle to defend the pass. Seems like this game will be another strong test for our defense.

Actually, NW doesn't pass the ball well. They run the ball well and they're (no surprise) fundamentally sound. The keys for OSU will be not falling for gadget plays and not beating themselves with turnovers. Northwestern doesn't have anyone on the roster like Gordon or Abbrederis.

If he was hurt enough to get exposed like that then wouldn't it behoove the Buckeyes to put in a capable body? Not saying he's replaceable but I'm pretty sure OSU has good enough athletes to not get burned almost every time Abbrederis got called on...
