Tiger Woods (Offical Thread)

Earlier this week Akron Beacon Journal related something to the effect that Tiger was being question about his seeing a Canadian doctor who pretty much handed out steroids. Check out film of Tiger during his younger years, he was a skinny kid. In less than a year he was built like a linebacker. Gary Player may have been hinting around about this.
I guess my question regarding Woods taking peds is that if he took them earlier on in his career when he really started to bulk up wouldn't he stop losing some of that muscle mass when he stopped using peds. I just think he was the first golfer to start rigorous physical training and lifting thus he had such a physical advantage over the other guys on the tour.

With regard to if you will ever break Jack's record for major wins, I think it's going to be very difficult for him because of all the scrutiny and the fact that he is not going to be able to let his emotions like he did before the news broke. I can see him winning a couple more majors just because he is so talented that his natural instincts will probably win a couple. Also, there are a lot of young talented golfers coming up they're going to give him stiff competition.

I don't know. The way he has crashed and burned, I think a lot of youngsters are going to think twice before they do that.

if two top fives in majors this year is "crashing and burning", count me in!

Steve, I'm curious what your opinion is of Ernie's temper tantrum after the US Open. I guess he is human after all.

My understanding is that he was disappointed in his performance and left without interviews, not that he had a temper tantrum. Of course, even if Els had had a tantrum after the Open, it would be lot different thing than Woods normal antics during the game.

The press I saw didn't mention any tantrum by Els...

Gathering for Woods but staying for Els at US Open

Not Steve but if he did throw a fit A) he is human and B) there is zero question the Ernie is an overall class act and gentleman.

I agree, although he did drop a HUGE F-bomb during the final round of the U.S. Open.

You misheard him. I believe he exclaimed "Foerk!", an Africaans word roughly translated as "Goodness me, that was not a particularly good shot on my part."

I'm not really implying that he isn't. Golfers are golfers. I have always been a bit sceptical of Steve's implication that Ernie is the man that all other golfers should be compared to. When you hold someone up on a pedestal, you should acknowledge when they don't live up to your expectations. Dropping F bombs and storming off without giving an interview is a bit classless no matter who you are.

Whoda thunk those words would be in the same sentence around here...

So much for the 'new' Tiger

Dismissive, terse, often rude and not that interested in offering any decent insight to what he thinks about his own game and his preparations for St Andrews.

Welcome back to Europe, Tiger.

Woods? first press conference in the region after his disgraceful approach to his personal life blew up in his face was a prickly affair. He was at a charity event for the very wealthy Irish businessman J.P. McManus in Limerick, southwestern Ireland.

It was a completely different man than the one we have seen cuddling up to the U.S. media. A week before the British Open celebrates its 150th anniversary, it looks like Tiger?s lost all interest in being someone close to even likeable in front of the media.

So much for the new Tiger. Remember that? A warmer and more approachable guy. Not even close to it.

Long story continues (link)

Apparently, not everyone is thrilled with Tiger's demeanor in the UK.

did you see the questions they were asking him?

(paraphrasing) Tiger, now knowing that your divorce has cost you 750MM, do you think it was worth it?

you've got to be kidding me if you think he is going to answer that question with anything but a one word answer.
