Spring Weight Loss Drive

good work! I did WW a few years ago, stuck to it and lost about 25lbs then started working messed up hours, fell off and got fat again.
That’s the problem with any diet plan; it’s only a temporary solution. In my opinion the only effective long-term weight maintenance program is a lifestyle change. You must permanently change your eating habits and commit yourself to a regular exercise routine. A structured diet plan can get the weight off initially but it’s not something that’s practical to continue for the rest of your life. Permanently changing your eating and exercise habits can be very difficult but it’s all about moderation. I choose to eat healthy during the week and work out regularly. Then on the weekends I eat and drink pretty much whatever I want. It’s all about balance (and I'm 6'1", 175# at age 40).

Congrats on the WW plans all of you. As Brewtus stated, lifestyle change is definitely the answer for keeping weight controlled. You CAN do that with WW, even if you stop going to meetings and having weekly weigh-ins, you can monitor yourself the same way. You know when you are eating something that either isn't the best option for your goals or the portion is too large for you. A couple of the best ways to keep to your promise to yourself is to eat off a salad plate at home and ask for a to-go box from the beginning in a restuarant. Restuarant portions are absurdly large and can divided however best suits you. I half everything immediately (except at work, bc it takes 3 hours to eat a meal so I eat it all) and only fill my salad plate one time. Try eating slower and sitting down at a table without a computer to eat. We tend to eat more with a tv or pc in front of us. You know you've done this. Eating slower means putting your fork down between bites or having conversation with someone over a meal (and not talking with food in your mouth). The most important thing is and always has been burn more calories that you consume. Get up off your ass and DO something, and movement at all will burn calories.

This site will give you an approx. number of calories burnt for multiple activities ranging from sitting to sex. Pretty interesting.

i'm starting out at 278.5lbs and i want to finish and maintain a weight of 197-203. I'm eating much less and much better food, as well as working out on the tredmill and the total gym (bought it for my wife a few years ago, she likes it, and it works pretty well)

A year ago I was in your neighborhood (a little lower, but close)... my goal is the same as yours (roughly 200)... The gym says I'm 6'1" (however they measured me with shoes on)... I figure I'm about 6'0"... weight watchers says a male, that is my age, and height sould be between 177 to 184 (I know there is no way I'll be that thin, so my goal is 200... at least for now)...

i've stopped drinking soda, i used to drink a case of Mt. Dew a week

During High school, I weighed about 300lbs. I know weigh around 195-205. I got down to 230 by just being more active and watching my portions.

I couldn't seem to lose any more, until I gave up pop. Man, that weight flew off after that. I can drink soda now, just not as much as I used to. I try to have two a day, sometimes though, I'll go a few days without any. For me, water was the key to reaching my goal. It's been about 5-6 years, and I'm glad I gave it up (for the most part).

I think a few more pictures of Brutusbabe would make me want to lose a few more pounds. And if I was only single again. And young. With no kids. Now I'm depressed and need to eat something.

I just made up a fake lease so my fiance and I can join the (almost) local rec center. We both need to lose some weight. I'd be happy just to get myself under 250 and stay there. I'm too thick to go much below that. I'd guess I'm around 300 now. Tired of people saying "Wow you look like you could still go out there and play O-line." 4 years ago I could barely dunk a bball, now I can barely touch the rim.

Join the Nat, did ya? :wink2:

I cut back the pop too, to usually one a day. For me the weight really came off at the end of my goal when I stopped eating completely after dinner. I used to have something "healthy" after dinner but just stopped it one week and lost about 3 pounds.
