Spring Weight Loss Drive

This message is targeted to my obese brethren (I am roughly the same height and weight as Anthony Schlegel, but that is where the similarities end.)

I know I am not alone in trying unsuccesfully to jump start some sort of diet and exercise program. Maybe with some 'public' accountability and commitment I could actually get off the dime.

This thread is a chance to state goals and progress. Maybe a little encouragement now and then.

I need to drop 10 pounds just to get into my summer clothes from last year (you know what they say "If you can't get in your own pants nobody else is going to try.") I would like to drop 32 by the end of the Summer to get back under the 200 barrier.

Anyone else?

Nice idea. I would like to drop 20 pounds off my frame. I was down five pounds and then went camping this weekend with friends. Two pounds came back on (It sucks when one of the guys is a personal chef).

I had to change my exercise habits due to a bad back. Biking and weights are out and I am trying to convince myself I enjoy running, which I have always hated.

Way ahead of you, dude. I've dropped 30 lbs. so far this year, and I'm back in some of the clothes I had to pack up at the end of my freshman year in college. I could stand to lose about 20 more lbs. That would get me down to the weight I was at when I was coming off track and my summer job loading trucks for Meijer. I've just been making sure I compromise on one thing every meal, take the stairs instead of the elevator, and have got off my ass and done some running. I'm getting a bike in the next week or so, and I'm gonna do some serious riding coming up.

I've been doing this in part as moral support for my mom. She's diabetic and has arthritis now, and the extra weight makes both of those worse. She's lost about 50 lbs. this year, and still has a way to go. Going through this thing together (even if she can't really exercise with me or anything) does make it easier.

Been yoyoing since the beginning of the year with the carb diet. Just started running this last Monday. Go to the outdoor courts at the local school and run/walk full court solo basketball. Did 50 laps today with a goal of eventually running 100 laps a day. The basketball takes a lot of the boredom out of running and also works my arms. Need to add a basic weight workout in the near future.

Have a 36" waist and want to get back to a 32. 20 #s would be sweet, 30 puts me in stud status.:lift:

I made my doc happy yesterday. I've dropped 16 pounds the last 2 months and the cholesterol dropped 66 big points. I think he was happier about it than me.

I'm just glad to be able to wear all of my clothes again. Nine more pounds, and I'll be back to my weight at age 25, which is pretty cool now that I'm 40.

It's amazing what cutting the calories a little and getting up a half hour earlier to work out can do for the ol' waistline.

I definitely am about 30-40 lbs over my soccer season weight. I don't expect that to ever return, but my "sit at a desk" self should be about 20 pounds less than I am now.

can I sign SIMV up or does his fat ass have to do it himself
For all the talk from you and him about him being fat, he really wasn't that bad. But he could spare to lose weight just the same.

I need the weather to get good so that I can go outside and get some exercise. This rain and cold is killing me.

I'm trying to put ON another 15-25 lbs through four meals a day, supplements and weight training. I've already put on 10 in the past few months.

I think my participation in this event would bring the team down.
I can donate that to you if you want it.

Nah, I'll just e-mail you the 35 pounds I've put on since retiring from the Army (December 1997). Enjoy them, there's a lot of good scotch, wine, pizza, French bread, cheese, steak and chili in them!
