Shaggy Texas - Shaggy Bevo, Thujone, MS Pain, Butt Hurt, and BBQ (RIP)

They're still over there spinning post after post that Saban was a done deal only to be fucked up by Powers and Mack for ego reasons. It might have been pre-interwebs, but I certainly didn't see this maniacal need to believe that Ohio State is the greatest job in the world and atop everyone's dream job list after we were spurned by our top couple of choices before hiring a 1-AA coach.

You might have if Meyer didnt come. This makes the tejas situation so interesting, there is no favorite son who already has won a NC. There is no coaching tree from one of their coaches (dont think anyone considers Bruce a legend, although he was very good). They're latest coach was from Tennessee and juat really like Darrell Royal...

I like the discussion going on now about how logical it would be for a NFL HC to go back to college. Some of these dumbasses seriously think coaching Texas is a bigger deal than coaching, say, the San Francisco 49ers or Baltimore Ravens, because if they win at Texas they'll get a statue.

I was thinking more about the hiring of Tressel when, by various accounts, Gruden, Belloti and/or Stoops all backed off or expressed downright disinterest in the job.

The UM hiring was a pure stroke of great timing not to mention Gee and Schottenstein handling it themselves and keeping our room temp IQ AD out of the picture. And even then UM wasn't a successful NFL coach at the peak of his career but was someone who had once had an Ohio State "out" in his contract.

Saban and the Harbaughs have zero connection to UT other than the fantasies that UT is everyone's dream job.

I was just looking up stuff on Royal.. .their greatest coach.. .wasnt a native son, nope he was from Oklahoma and played their.. .just interesting

Yep, for the greatest program in the history of college football, they certainly don't seem to grow much home grown head coaching talent. Personally, I can't wait for the meltdown when it becomes apparent exactly how coveted that job is.
