Shaggy Texas - Shaggy Bevo, Thujone, MS Pain, Butt Hurt, and BBQ (RIP)

I have to think that there is some Texas big school high school genius like Malzhan somewhere in that state. Not that Belmont would ever seriously entertain hiring a high school coach ... just that there has got to be a couple future HoF college coaches kicking around somewhere so that Austin could grow their own coaching tree.

I'm waiting for the full-moon-bi-polar-meltdown-spectacular that will take place on BWI if Buttchins Bob takes his act to non-probation pastures. The guy has worked a miracle there for 2 years to keep that program going, let alone pull off wins over Michigan and Wisconsin. Frankly, an argument could be made that he's produced two of the conferences best QBs in his short tenure, certainly the best freshman in 2013.

I think buttchin believes that he can ride Hackensack back to the NFL, and I'm not sure that I'd disagree with it.

Savor the great irony in Hackensack. The pedsters may have stumbled into an Andrew Luck type qb, but the rest of the team will be so depleted by sanctions that all it will result in is some 7-5 seasons.

Solid hit piece on new AD Patterson:

The beauty of this Patterson-to-Texas thing isn't that we know for certain that UT won't fully realize its potential under his leadership. He's older, and presumably wiser. It might very well prove that he's learned something between his stint working for Paul Allen and the spot he finds himself in now. Arizona State went OK for him, I guess. It might also prove that Texas' athletic department -- with all those boosters and all that tradition -- is such a big machine that a owl sitting on a fence post could run it.
The true beauty is that we get to enjoy what promises to be an entertaining show with no pain inflicted on the sports teams you care about.

Jesus, they really believe that if Mack hadn't fucked it up, all of these players would have gone to Texas I don't get how they can think that way. They literally wandered in the wilderness for two and a half decades before 2004 while burning through coaches like Lindsay Lohan burning through rehab counselors.

I think the new coach is really walking into the perfect shitstorm of unrealistic expectations and meddling big money boosters. I wouldn't be surprised if they're on probation in a few years.

Looks more like Mack did a decent job recruiting... 4 and 5stars interspersed with a few 3stars... which is pretty standard imo.
Seems more like they either do a poor job of scouting on their own for QBs that'll fit their system, and/or fail to develop QBs.

Judging by the quarterbacks they let get away, didn't offer, or offered at other positions over the last 8 years, I'd say their QB scouting was among the worst in the country.

Remember, Mack didn't like to work for recruits... they were almost always full by the end of spring. If Tejas wasn't in the top 3 they wouldn't try for them. Mack figured if they didn't want to be at the Flagship school then why bother
