Rose Bowl possibilities

youre right, i shouldnt really be worried about it. although i would rather play oregon state though.:oh:
:io:

But either way it will be the best of the PAC-10 and I wanna beat Oregon so there are no "Can't win the big one" shouts coming from the rest of the college football world.

Personally, I'm not certain anyone should discount the Beavers IF they win the Civil War. It may not have the name recognition, but Riley puts out a damn fine product. They've been in every game they've played this year. No blowouts. Sure, they lost to Cincinnati, but that was also the third game of the year. Riley's teams always get better as the year goes on.

Whether the Buckeyes are playing the Ducks or the Beavers, it will be a hard fought game.

Oregon State is probably the more balanced team than Oregon, imho. Oregon has the better Offense, but Oregon has a questionable defense. Oregon State has the better Defense, but it's Offense isn't shabby. Not as good as Oregons, but still pretty good.

We'll have our hands full with either team. The thing is, that I think we can run the ball on either team. And so, if we can move the chains running the ball, we have a chance to beat anyone.

ROSES!!

This just in...

Oregon and Oregon State have decided they would rather play in their normal bowl games and allow USC to have their rightful place.

USC was pleased with their decisions.

I want Oregon. They run a "sneaky" offense, yea, but I don't like that scared "I don't want a part of them" attitude. I would fully expect us to beat Oregon.

I know you can't do this...but Arizona lost to Iowa, and Arizona obviously could have won that game last night.

I think we can take Oregon

I've watched several Oregon games, but haven't seen Oregon State yet. I think our OL will devour their DL and ask for seconds. I also like the fact that we'll have four weeks to prepare for their spread, should they win the Civil War game. Oregon will also be favored by the talking heads types, and there will be lots of chatter about how Ohio State "can't stop" Oregon's crazy offense, and the standard transitive property comparisons about how OSU lost to USC and Oregon killed them. It'll be Fiesta Bowl 2002 pre-game hype all over again, except that this team has a significantly better offense than the 2002 NC squad.

Bring on the Ducks! :oh:

Karma Ohio? I'm re-posting this:

The last time Iowa played in a winner-take-all game for the Rose Bowl was in 1957 against Ohio State in Columbus:

OSU 17 Iowa 13

The next week in Ann Arbor ("meaningless game"):

OSU 31 Michigan 14

The Rose Bowl:

OSU 10 Oregon 7

I've been hearing/reading that a lot, but I'm not really sure how much I believe it. And I'm not talking about stats or anything like that. In watching the games, I just don't "see" the significantly better offense this year.

Maybe I am just paranoid, but Oregon scares me. I just don't think it is a good matchup for us. Our defense will slow them down, I just don't think our offense is going to be able to keep up.

We got 5 turnovers against UM and only scored 24 points, and their defense is ranked in the 80's or worse in every catagory.

I guess what I am saying is if Oregon jumps out to an early lead and it is a shoot out we are going to be in a lot of trouble.

I don't know about you but during the Purdue game I kept yelling "just line up and smash them in the mouth!!!". As if they heard me that's exactlly what OSU did to very other team after that debacle. This OSU team is built to PREVENT shootouts. After the Oregon-USC game it should be obvious the closest the Ducks have seen to a "D" like ours is Boise and we all know what happened there. The closest Oregon has seen to our pounding offense might be Stanford and we saw what happened there.

Given that nothing I say or do will have any impact on the outcome of the Pac 10 season finale, I'm not "hoping for" or "scared of" or otherwise emotionally invested in any team as our Rose Bowl opponent. It will be who it will be. And I feel good about our chances against any of them.

I feel very, very good about our running game against either team (especially Oregon, simply because I've watched more of their games).

There will be no 'shootout' if we play against Oregon. You can't have a shootout when one team can run the ball 6 downs in a row, taking 5 minutes off the clock, and the other team just isn't good enough to stop them. I expect that to often be the case.

The question will be, can Pryor keep them honest? I think so.

I see it more like last year's hype... Texas was supposed to roll our D.... :io:

I'll take this... I'll just take a win period.... but that is fairly eerie Carmen... very close to the actual games this year.
