Stalked by many, Beanie's golden

Ohio State RB Wells has blossomed into one of nation's best
Sunday, January 06, 2008 By Nakia Hogan

COLUMBUS, OHIO -- The baby his mother brought home from the hospital was long and skinny, and his head "was shaped like a bean," said Donald Wells, who was 4 when his brother was born. "So I just said 'Beanie.' And it's just stuck for all these years."
There's nothing skinny about Chris Wells anymore. The Ohio State sophomore has blossomed into a 6-foot-1, 235-pound muscular running back adept at running over or around the opposition. But he's still Beanie.
In fact he rarely answers to Chris, so his friends, family and coaches have given up calling Wells by his first name.

I love Beanie, but Jim Brown is probably the greatest RB to ever tote the rock. Size and speed don't make you the same.

Where did I say they were equals as runningbacks? I said they have similar physical capabilities and like you said, that's not all there is to being a great back(see Emmitt Smith). Believe me, I know Jim Brown's place in history and how dominant he was.

"It would mean the whole world to me just to bring back a national championship to this Ohio State University and the whole Ohio State community," Wells said.
Make us all proud Beanie - bring it back.

I dare anyone to seriously tell me that there will be a more focused and determined player on the field tomorrow night...

In my mind I just keep thinking about the Beanie that showed up when the team was losing it against Michigan State. I think about the Beanie that showed up when Wisconsin was up by 7 in the Shoe. I think about the Beanie who, after letting down "his" seniors, rallied "his" team to send those guys away 4-0 against Michigan. The one who essentially looked Dick and Jim Tressel in the eyes and demanded that football. The one who sits on the bench in silence, and complete focus, desiring nothing more than to punish the team that dares stand in his way.

And I keep thinking about how he could take 39 carries in a game, how he could cut and weave and bounce and slam DBs...all with some nasty injuries.

And I just can't wait to see the matchup between Craig Steltz and Beanie Wells every time power-O is called.

Brian Hartline on Beanie Wells:

"If you put him on a track, he's not gonna run a blazing time. If you put a football in his hands, he's gonna run right by you."

Barton's quotes will surely be missed, but, my friends, the torch has been passed.

I don't remember seeing this on here, but Beanies goal is to have 50 carries. Who wants to lead this team? The guy that said he has had dreams about this game and they all have a great ending. Oh man please let him roll this team, first dorsey, then highsmith, then steltz and give a stare to Miles for good measure. God, that would be awesome.
