RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (All B1G, All-American)

Nor would I, but it's certainly not outside the realm of possibility. He'll likely end up around 1,600 yards this season, leaving him a little over 300 yards behind Eddie in a season that was hampered by ankle and wrist injuries. Plus as a Junior, he's likely only gonna get better.

If he stays healthy, and if JT gives him enough carries, I could see him giving it a run...pun intended. Hell, he had over 800 yards the last 5 games.

Plus if Boone doesn't go pro 4 out of 5 offensive lineman will be back paving the way for him.

And that's why I wouldn't bet on it. We have another year of MoWells and B-Saine plus we bring in Boom Herron, who will all probably get carries from Tressel. Plus, with Boeckman and all the receivers back I expect us to open it up more from the very beginning. I think Tressel said his goal was 250 yards passing per game and 200 yards rushing per game which tells me he goes for balance. Talent certainly isn't the issue. If I had to make a prediction, I'd say he runs for 1,650 yards next year.

I think Tebow will be under a microscope next year, and unless he betters his performance of this season he won't win it...

So true, that is what happened to Jason White, I think the voters won't just give it to Tebow, he'll definately have to earn it. And if scUM can pull the upset (verrrry unlikely) that will put him in a hole, right or wrong.

C'mon fellas. Of the 2-dozen or so active threads we have, none of them are remotely on-topic. Why should this thread be any different?

Apart from the fact that this thread is about next year's Heisman Trophy winner, there isn't anything about it that deserves special consideration.

Got curious and did a little research: this year Chris Wells' 1,463 yards is the 7th best year running the football in the entire history of Ohio State football.

1. Eddie George ........... 1,927
2. Keith Byars ............. 1,764
3. Archie Griffin ........... 1,695
4. Archie Griffin ........... 1,577
5. Tim Spencer ........... 1,538
6. Pepe Pearson .......... 1,484
7. Chris Wells .............. 1,463
8. Archie Griffin ............ 1,450
9. Eddie George ............ 1,442
10. Raymont Harris ........ 1,344

So in the bowl game he only needs 22 yards to pass Pearson into 6th place, 76 yards to pass Spencer into 5th place, 115 yards to pass Archie into 4th place. All well within reach I'd say. He would need 233 yards to pass Archie into 3rd place, so that's pushing it a little bit, but still, having a realistic shot to move into 4th place all time at Ohio State as a sophomore is something special to say the least.

For career totals, Beanie's two year total of 2,039 yards already puts him into 19th place on the all time list. A modest 1,000 yards next year would put him all the way up to 6th place on the career list while 1,514 yards would put him at 3rd behind only Eddie and Archie. Beanie has a real shot to become a true legend at Ohio State.
:osu:

(but for right now I'll just settle for him steamrolling some tigers)

Just to point something out. The number 4 season on that list was done in 11 games.

great work.Where's that list we had about how many yards Wells would get for the season. I know I had 1500 and he's going to go over that  Next season and his last if, he's healthy 1800 and HEISMAN. For those that didn't see him in high school. He was a killer at LB

Football: Wells' productive season fuels Ohio State

Wells had to put all that potential in his hip pocket and prove himself

COLUMBUS (AP) - Promise doesn?t equal production. That's something Ohio State's Chris "Beanie" Wells has learned during his brief college career.
One of the nation's most acclaimed recruits when he came to campus 18 months ago, Wells had to put all that potential in his hip pocket and prove himself before blossoming into a sophomore standout for the top-ranked Buckeyes.

"What has Beanie Wells meant?" coach Jim Tressel said. "Oh, man. We wouldn't be right here ... if it weren't for Beanie Wells."

Where the Buckeyes are is 11-1 and headed for a date with LSU in the Bowl Championship Series national title game Jan. 7 at the Louisiana Superdome.
Wells, a bit player a year ago when the Buckeyes made it to the title game, inherited the tailback job when Antonio Pittman decided to give up his senior season for the NFL.

Cont'd ...

I can't wait for next Monday.

LSU boards are mostly proclaiming that Beanie isn't anything special and he probably wouldn't start on at least 3-4 SEC teams. They see backs "just like him" every week in the SEC.

The first time he ass plants Steltz I can see the LSU jaws dropping to the floor.

With the way Wells just plowed through the imposing PSU defense that prevented many teams from scoring more than one offensive touchdown, I think Wells is going to be doing most of tOSU's scoring, but he's going to be doing a lot of it. This year's championship is Ohio State's.
