Bradford was a redshirt sophomore. So, sophomore year of eligibility. He might have been a junior academically (I don't have any idea what his academic standing was), but he still had two years of eligibility left after he won the Heisman.

I think it should come into play slightly because of reduced pressure but unless that player did something wrong there is no rational argument that would eliminate him from individual awards.

What the quesiton loosely implies or leads to in conversation is if the player has to be on a conference winning team, is it the best player on the best team award?

I've wondered...if WVA drops a game or two and OSU goes undefeated, does this turn into a close race (assuming both players keep having big games)? I could see WVA dropping two easily with Texas Tech, TCU, Oklahoma, Iowa State, Kansas State, and Oklahoma State left on the schedule. And Braxton IS this entire offense and he has already put together a freak highlight reel. I think he has a legit shot.

RG3 proved that staggering stats may cause Heisman voters to overlook W-L columns. I think it's going to take a couple of legitimately bad game from Smith to not win this year. And here's a stat for you, if Smith wins the Heisman this year, he would become the fifth B12 QB to win in the last twelve years, and that's not including the guy who should have won in 2006.
