QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

Hey guys, let's move this QB who won the Heisman and was going to be our #1 guy coming into the season to a different position. That'll be really good for his career!

[censored]ing idiots. I hope Troy isn't a team player in this situation. I know he will be, though.

My guess is tha the fact Troy won the Heisman in college will have "zero impact" on when and how the Raven's coaching staff decides to play him. It will be all about how he has and is performing on the field in a Raven's uniform. The Ravens won't be looking at "what is good for Troy's carrer"; they will be looking at what is "best for the Ravens" (i.e. puts the team in the best position to win games).

Troy is a professional football player and I'm sure he realizes how the NFL teams operate.

No doubt. Frankly, while Troy is presumably quite disappointed, I'm sure he'll keep working for his "shot". Beyond that, just keep collecting a paycheck Troy...it ain't bad!

I'm not lie'n when I say this but I honestly want to punch my TV everytime I see Flacco out on the field for the ravens. He couldn't handle D-1 football, excells at Delaware, gets unnecessary pub for having a strong arm and being tall. Then gets the starting QB job for the Ravens and has gone what?

He beats the Bangels- Who HASNT
Browns- HAHAHAHA (they're my team, but you have to laugh)
Steelers- Without Parker, Lost mendenhall in the game, and their oline is a seive.
Titans- their offense is poor with zero recieving capabilities.

Only reason the Ravens are losing games close is their damn defense is playing lights out every [censored]ing week. Their's a reason Troy Smith was #1 in preseason and Flacco was #3 and injury (this case medical) shouldn't award someone the starting job. The Ravens franchise named Flacco starter namely because they will look stupid if they don't play their first rounder over a 5-6th round pick from 07. Flacco has one thing on Troy Smith. HEIGHT. Arm strength? I'm willing to bet Troy can match Flacco on any throw from anywhere on the field.

Leadership-Troy
Mobility-Troy
Respect of team-Troy
Arm- Tie (I think Troy actually has the better arm, but hell don't tell ESPN that).
Franchise QB- Flacco

Only reason Flacco is starting is for the simple fact that he lucked out and put up numbers at a D-1aa school and is considered to be the proto-call NFL QB.

They want a 6'4" guy to play QB? That's like saying Hell Todd Boeckman put up good numbers last year and he's tall after all. Sign him up!!Todd has put up good numbers at tosu no less! Same measurements, better competition, but does that make Todd better than Flacco?? You would think so if you follow the Ravens train of thought.

Flacco will falter though, and when he does Troy will be there to take over (if he doesn't jet after this year).

/Rant.

I know the Heisman won't have anything to do with anything in the NFL, I was just trying to reiterate the fact that Troy is a QB, has some damn good potential, and they're thinking about using him at other positions.

He was going to be their starting QB at one point, and now they want to put him elsewhere. Just kind of ridiculous in my opinion.

The Niners would love to have Troy (I would love for them to have him, anyways :tongue2:).

Flacco will start for Ravens; Smith to work as backup

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Baltimore coach John Harbaugh has named rookie Joe Flacco the Ravens' starting quarterback for the rest of the season.
The announcement came as former Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith, who had been expected to compete for the starting job, finally returned from a severe tonsil infection that had sidelined him since training camp.

Whether Smith would again compete for the starting job once he returned had been an open question. But Harbaugh said Smith will be the third quarterback behind backup Todd Bouman this week against the Indianapolis Colts, and will eventually compete with Bouman for the No. 2 spot on the depth chart.

"Troy is working full-speed ahead as a healthy quarterback this week really for the first time, which is exciting and great news for us," Harbaugh said.

"[Third-string] will be his role this year, possibly in a role where he can contribute playing quarterback for us down the road," Harbaugh added. "That all remains to be seen by game play and whatnot, and that's where we're at."

In a dream world, he'd get traded to the Browns, take over as starter, and make Baltimore his bitch like he did with scUM. Fuck Baltimore. I know it's not their fault he got an infection but it seems like Troy's had a ridiculous amount of bad luck there.

If things don't work well with Anderson, we might need another QB on the list besides Brady & Dorsey. Who knows, if Brady isn't all that... nothing is ever impossible.

.... but I think I just got wet picturing Troy in a Brownies uni.

Oh happy days!

He is still recovering guy, he lost what 35 or so pounds in the matter of a week. Thats going to take a while to get back and get conditioned. Not to mention he is probobly behind on the gameplans and whatnot.
I think by mid season we will be seeing some of Troy in one way or another.
Flacco = game manager
Troy = Play maker
If the Ravens want to win games instead of just hoping there defense can hold off the opposing offense long enough, Troy would need to be the QB, but I don't see that happening.

Flacco hasn't been a very good game manager lately. Two picks in the first half today, and some bad ones last week. If the Ravens are still contenders when Troy gets back in shape, he has to get a good look to retake that starting job. They can't afford 2+ picks every week.

At this point I am getting this immense pleasure from watching them loose. I want Flacco to loose every game he ever starts. I want to see the Ravens break records for the least points a team has ever scored over a given time period.
