Troy Smith, Ohio State's 2006 Heisman Trophy winner, will sponsor a golf outing to benefit OSU's NIL causes as well as mental health initiatives.
Troy Smith, Ohio State's 2006 Heisman Trophy winner, has found a way to pay it forward.
Smith will host the Troy Smith Celebrity Golf Scramble on Mon., Aug. 12, at The Golf Club at Little Turtle in Westerville, Ohio. This event brings together supporters of Ohio State University NIL athletes (via a partnership with The Foundation) while also championing the cause of mental health awareness.
Smith and tournament organizers are promising a star-studded extravaganza. The guest list already includes past Heisman winners Johnny Manziel and Ricky Williams; internet sensation Ross Smith with 30 million followers; Barstool Sports; WWE Superstar Angelo Dawkins; OSU Hall of Famers Braxton Miller and Ted Ginn Jr.; OSU basketball legend Evan Turner; MMA stars Lance Palmer and Marc Coleman, and renowned music artists. Smith has elevated the stakes by introducing prestigious trophies reminiscent of the Stanley Cup tradition. The third place team will receive the Walter Camp football trophy, the second place team the Davey O'Brien trophy, and the first place team will have the honor of featuring Smith's Heisman trophy at their next business event, outing or favorite hometown spot.
