QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

Troy Smith (with Ted Ginn Sr and Eric Metcalf) wants to be your dealer.

"Sports is a great thing to watch when you're snacking on chicken wings, but it's dead serious. We need to pay more attention to it and be more delicate," Smith said, adding that he is certain medical marijuana can be helpful to people with brain injuries.

Well, I think we can all agree the mean green isn't any worse for your body or society than all the pain and anti-anxiety stuff out there, and who doesn't love chicken wings?

Pretty funny reading the back to back articles posted in this thread...

Headline almost reads as though he was drunk driving, but he wasn't. Still dumb if he was driving under the influence of the mary-j (unconfirmed, but let's say likely), but a drug paraphernalia arrest at this point isn't terrible.

I'll never understand people like Troy. He was on a great track at osu to go into administration and "the life" is more important.

As you said what a waste that his calling is to go into marijuana.

Hopefully Troy isn't into anything related to the "illegal use of marijuana"; however........

TROY SMITH AND TED GINN SR. LOOK TO OPEN MEDICAL MARIJUANA DISPENSARY WITH ERIC METCALF

The state of Ohio will soon select 24 applicants out of a field of 185 to cultivate medical marijuana, which Governor John Kasich signed into law last June.

Re: The competition to grow marijuana in Ohio is fierce. The state on Wednesday released the names of 185 applicants for one of just 24 coveted cultivation licenses to supply what's expected to be a multimillion-dollar market for medical marijuana.

Just sayin': This is a legit business and could be very profitable.

Surprised Sr is involved in that...its very profitable and business wise it makes total sense.

Morally though its not the best career. Particularly if you have an opportunity to be an administrator at a big time university.

Troy has always been a go big or go home kind of guy though as well as impatient. If he would've stayed the course he could've been an AD making 7 figures a year.

I'm not sure how a legitimate business is a waste but uhh... sure thing, champ.
Because as a Heisman Trophy Winner there is a world of possibility open to you to do something worthwhile. While yes, this may be a legal business, it's well below what a Heisman Trophy Winner should be doing.

It's like winning a Nobel Prize in medicine but then working at CVS

Is marijuana legal in ohio?

Troy can do so much better than this. his recognition alone should afford him massive opportunities to impact Society in a very positive way. All the while making very large sums of money if he is Savvy enough. I don't fault Troy for deciding marijuana as a business because it is very popular and very profitable.

morally though it is not the best move especially when he can do so many different things to make money and provide himself with a nice life. As others have said this is such a under utilization of what Troy is really capable of

Eric Crouch is selling playground equipment lol. What does a college sports award have to do with a chosen career?

Sports guys should just stay in sports, though right?

the problem with most tests for marijuana dui's is that they can't tell the difference between an unimpaired user and an impaired user. you will pop positive if you smoked a joint days ago despite there being absolutely no effect on your current state. taking an ambien a couple nights ago but not since would have about the same effect, which is to say, nil. mouth swabs can do a better job at determing current impairment, but it's by no means perfectly conclusive.

if troy had not used marijuana so recently as to actually impair his ability to drive, then not taking the sobriety tests would be recommended. cops don't care about the validity of their tests. so if you don't know how exactly you'll be tested while being a mj ser, it's best to let your lawyers settle the matter. furthermore, the smell emanating from the car is indicative of nothing in terms of his impairment. noting the smell is only good for probable cause to search the car.
