Another coach violating rules, jumping ship, and leaving the current players and school in a heap of trouble. Well done Chip Kelly, well done. But what's new? We've known this was going to happen for quite some time now

Remember how Jim Tressel got that suspension with the Indianapolis Colts? I wonder if the NFL will give Chip Kelly any penalty, if the NCAA deems he violated rules, or will the two parties continue to be hypocritical.

Here are a couple of my favorite comments from Pro Football Talk's Article concerning the Oregon violations.
jackblackshairyback says: Apr 16, 2013 10:40 AM Why would the NFL punish Kelly like they did Pryor? It?s only a major recruiting violation, not free tattoos.
joemammy says: Apr 16, 2013 11:34 AM I?m certain whatever Chip Kelly did was very innovative, and that the infractions committee of the NCAA will be in awe of his ability to manuever through this in an innovative way.

The university gave a statement to The Oregonian on Monday night following the documents' release that read: "The review is ongoing until the NCAA Committee on Infractions issues its final report. The integrity of the process and our continued full cooperation with the NCAA prohibits us from publicly discussing the specifics of this matter."

I guess Miami is not concerned about those things? Oregon will handle it the old fashioned way; a backroom deal brokered by Nike.

Consistency hasn't exactly been a hallmark of Goodell's reign.

Sean Payton - Paid for Players to beat the crap outta people.
Pete Carroll - Paid for Players to come to his school.
Chip Kelly - Paid for Players to come to his school (basically).
Jim Tressel - Covered for players that were selling their OWN gear.

One of these things is not like the other....hmmm...

Gotta love the Nefarious Felons League...LOL

Hey folks - saw this link on a Husker MSG Board from a while back. It's a database of all the NCAA Violations in history.

https://web1.ncaa.org/LSDBi/exec/miSearch

EDIT: It's for Major Violations only.

EDIT to my EDIT: Looks like SMU was up to their old tricks back in 2000, LOL

Date: December 13, 2000

Violation Sumary: Violations of NCAA bylaws governing recruiting, extra benefits, academic fraud and unethical conduct.

Penalty Summary: Public reprimand and censure; two years of probation; the number of expense-paid visits to the institution's campus in football limited; reduction of the number of football coaches permitted to recruit off-campus by one during the 2001-02 academic year; vacation of team record and individual records of the student-athlete who engaged in academic fraud, further, the university's records regarding football will be reconfigured to reflect the vacation of the ten contests in which the student-athlete competed during the 1998 season and so recorded in all publications in which football records for that season are reported; show-cause against the former assistant football coach named in the report for a period of seven years; annual reports and recertification.

Such is the nature of semantics. That last one could just as accurately read as:

Lied to his superiors at Ohio State and the NCAA to keep five star players eligible for a national championship run season.

Neither his dismissal nor the subsequent Failure to Monitor charge were the result of "free tattoos." They were the result of the lying and the cover up.

Agreed, but similar stories can be told about Carroll, cryami, Kelly and just about anyone else (SEC, SEC!). And I think the lack of consistency is the point. We fully deserved the punishment we received. It would be nice to see others receive like punishment for like or worse infractions.

That being said the ncaa is a joke and has lost any version of credibility

Documents released by the University of Oregon show the school and the NCAA agree "major" violations were committed by the football program, both The Oregonian and Portland, Ore., television station KATU reported Monday.

The documents focus heavily on Will Lyles

Who's he? I knew a Willie Lyles ...

True, but it's hard to say Kelly and Oregon didn't lie to the NCAA by rushing to submit some bullcrap report from Lyles to make it look like their dealings were legitimate, and this blatent cheating was clearly all about winning.

If Oregon doesn't receive a postseason ban for this the NCAA should just not fkin bother anymore
