Game Thread Ohio State at Penn State, 10/22/16, 8:00pm ET ABC/WatchESPN

My only beef tonight would be our treatment of JT. You could see it was NOT in the plan this week to have him be a primary runner.

That probably seems like an easy thing to nit-pick but the issue is how do you install the game plan week to week. It'd seem obvious to switch to a past gameplan but when you ingrain one style of play all week, it's tough to re-direct the offense to a game plan that hasn't been hammered home all WEEK LONG.

You could literally see JT trying to avoid hits tonight. When has anyone seen him slide? The lack of QB runs early, was obvious, and likely helped the PSU defense in terms of how to play us. I think most people lack the nuance in a game like football, and write off the fact we had a game plan to limit JT's exposure. There isn't a light switch to put on at all times. Urban wanted to execute a plan we don't normally utilize, and it backfired.

But we are still in this....run the table and we're in. I'd expect nothing less....

I had enough time to read War & Peace when our offense was on the field. How about picking up the fucking pace? We ran scUM and Notre Dame down with the hurry-up.

Passive football doesn't win many football games. Yes, I know there are many players that are sophs or younger but take some chances with the play calling. If they make mistakes so be it. Losing like this tonight feels like getting kicked in the nads.

No. This PSU team was garbage. GARBAGE. GARBAGE. GARBAGE. GARBAGE.

this is the worst team I can recall losing to.

Didn't seem to bother Boeckman in 07, or Braxton in 13 when he won it by himself. Do any of you realize who we just lost to?
Off the top of my head, in 2009, we lost to a 5-7 Purdue. We went on to beat Oregon in the Rose bowl.

Game was lost on the 3rd and 7 play from the 28 with 4 to go. Assuming Herbstreit and Fowler were correct that the sideline was going crazy for a check b/c Terry McLaurin had a 1 on 1 opportunity. I mean, all due respect, Terry McLaurin isn't exactly Jerry Rice. I don't think him getting single covered means an automatic check to throw him the ball. I'm as frustrated as a lot of people at the over reliance on JT running but in that situation I was expecting it and was totally fine with it. Empty the backfield and run JT. Maybe he gets the 1st down, maybe he gets closer so you can go on 4th, maybe you get an easier field goal. Just an odd set of decisions there that cost us the football game.

Where are the counters and traps from the Championship run? Where's the tempo? Where's any sense of rhythm to the play calling, plays that work together in a sequence?

This, to me, is squarely on the coaching staff. It also is another data point in a trend line, IMO, and not a good one. Why is JT taking so much time almost every snap changing plays and pointing things out individually to each and every lineman? That was driving me absolutely insane. I get that crowd noise sometimes requires taking a little longer to get everyone set and on the same page, but you have to know your environment and how to work within it to your advantage.

LSU can still beat Bama, FSU can still beat Clemson. We still have a great chance. Plus the B10 is still open.
i shudder to think what ttun is going to do to our offensive line, especially prince. that was easily the worst performance from an offensive lineman that i can recall in perhaps years. unfortunately, the defensive line up north is absolutely superior to psu's.
