Game Thread Ohio State at Penn State, 10/22/16, 8:00pm ET ABC/WatchESPN

This was lost on bad play calling. I feel like they wanted to get the passing game and Webber more reps to evolve the offense. They went away from Samuel and Barrett in the running game. I'm ready for Tim Beck to move on.
Not sure if Webber is at the level to be a starting RB for the Buckeyes. He doesn't have big play ablility and I have yet to see this power he runs with. He looks like an average college football RB not a average Ohio State RB.

My only guess is that the coaches don't think the young line can handle tempo or the blocking schemes. Or the coaches can't think quick enough to call plays that fast.

Given how late into the play clock the snaps have been pushing and seeing JT looking to the sideline so much late in the clock suggests that the coaches not calling plays quick enough is a large factor.

As much as I may have moaned about the scripted drives and pre-determined plays with Herman, at least he tried to develop a rhythm with the play calling even if it didn't always work out every series. That probably allows the players to play a little more freely and think on their feet and react easier.

While Urban Meyer is the 2nd best coach in the game in the losses he has tended to get outcoached as opposed to out-talented.
That's my one nitpick with Urban. He always has that one game where the team just loses their collective minds all at once. Offense goes from juggernaut to can't move the ball on a high school team in the blink of an eye. Defense completely falls asleep. I know your team can't be sharp all the time but goddamn some of these losses are frustrating and baffling.

Herman loved to find a play that worked and run it till the opposing defense stopped it. Beck and Warinner refuse to go back to plays that work. They rather go to dump downs to Webber than let Samuel get touches, when Samuel is clearly the better RB.

Really bad fucking week to lose with all the other unbeaten teams blowing out their opponents (OK, maybe not TA&M).

Makes us stick out like a sore thumb. At least we still have a month of football to go and the possibility of beating 2 ranked teams.

Questions....

Do we fall further than TA&M that lost to #1 Bama?

And, will they place us lower than #8 Nebraska that struggled with Iowa today?

We can't possibly fall further than #10 can we...considering that's where Wisky is currently?

Ugh....I guess it doesn't matter all that much if we can't get it done. Just trying to distract myself from the terrible pain.

I'm not following this thread page by page, bc I'm texting with my dad and brother. I see some pages, and then fast forward through like 15 at a time. And I usually skip game threads because it's nothing but bitching by overly emotional people who should know better.

To that end, I don't know who all is bitching at this specific moment. But I'm here to tell you, shut the fuck up. I've lived hating this fucking team for the majority of my life. Since I knew what rooting for Ohio State was, I hated these assholes. Since well before they joined the B1G I've hated these assholes. Well well well before it was known that Paterno was covering for a child molester have I hated this fucking program. So when I see people whining about my Buckeyes during a Penn St game, I take it personally.

So.....shut the fuck up. We're killing them everywhere but the scoreboard, and now we're making second half adjustments. Franklin doesn't even know how to spell second half adjustment. We're going to win this game.

I'm tired of reading the incessant bitching about individual plays. As if throwing 5 yards on 3rd and 10 isn't setting them up for something later in the game.

Just stop for this game, please. You can continue with the glass half empty [Mark May] next week. I don't give a [Mark May] then. But there's one game every year that I have the upper hand in knowing how the game flow is going. It's this one. And guess fucking what.

We're winning this one. Period.
Jesus Christ. I'm going to eat this one for the next 10 years.

Fuck me. I've got 9 people texting me already. We win 4 in a row and that doesn't matter to these pieces of shit. It I don't fuckng kill myself we'll go through this same fucking process in 4 years.

Hire a god damn OC who isn't named Beck, Urban. Jesus god damn Christ. How many red flags do you fuckng need.

Its like we watched the tape and said "ok now let's do the opposite"

Too much Samuel last week=none the next week

Too much JT means no QB designed runs

We need to hit the deep throws dammit= yeah let's throw a few deep

Wtf where's Mikey? = let's run the brakes of Weber.

They have no clue. none on what they're doing on offense. Zeke finally blew his top last year after MSU and I don't blame him. Same boat right now this teams offense is dead in the water. Dead. If we turn it around its because somehow our oline turns it on and we start road grating teamso.

Considering we don't have the back to do that nor the common sense and you'll probably have a 11-2 season.

Bright side is now all the talk about Lattimore/Hooker going pro is now done. NO IDEA how anyone leaves after crap performance.

How big was that TD before the half now... I turned the game off after JT was sacked on 4th down (how fitting).

Honestly, don't think it matters. If we win out we'll end up where we deserve. If.

If.

Did i mention, if we win out? All is not lost and I take some comfort in recognizing how bad we looked against VaTech as it relates to our chances this year. Who cares if we drop to #24, win out and we're right back in CFP. I have some serious doubts that we can win out. This offense just isn't scaring teams despite all this 4 and 5* talent everywhere. But Urban has rebounded from bad losses a few times and most of the national champions have had 1 loss over the last decade. All goals are still ahead of us, IF we take care of business.
