Name, Image, & Likeness (NIL) at tOSU

Hmm…so more and more chatter about how OSU’s collective is completely mismanaged and it’s costing them players.

It’s not for a lack of money (like The Foundation is begging for). It’s just OSU likely hitched their first wagon to a bunch of grifters. Saw that coming.

Day, Athletic department, University and state leaders on up need to get aligned and focused.

edit - oh for f’s sake…this post was before I saw Zach Smith was starting his own NIL fund.

Clown show.
The bad part of it is 90% of us could get his done, but we aren’t a “name” nor otherwise connected to the OSU network.

Seems like there might be a lesson in this somewhere but it’s holiday time and I’m half in the bag so I’ll be damned if I can figure it out.

If I'm at a bar for a game and the bartender asks if I want to round my bill up to go toward NIL, it's an immediate "yes". Multiply that over hundreds of thousands of fans and multiple games and it makes a huge number.....it's simple.

If the collectives can't sell OSU merch, they can create a separate entity that is allowed to sell merch.....100% of profits can be donated to the collective.

But to your point, the entire board is made up of people that can't relate to the average fan. I want to feel like I'm getting something other than a highschool athlete for my money...so let me pay $5 more for a shirt haha

i always figured i was missing out on some background or insider info. because, for the life of me i couldn't figure out what qualifications cardale jones has to be part of running the foundation. qualifications to run the ball, okay. but for something as complex and legally entwined as NIL?

head scratcher for me.

has he done something in business / law / commerce / whatever since graduating? did he even graduate? honest questions...

EDIT: maybe cardale is just a face for the foundation? a face both fans and players recognize (and trust?).

Yeah, I saw The Foundation shitshow coming a mile away. This was nothing more than Little Lord Schottenstein's vehicle to buy some athlete friends and weasel some influence over the athletic department. If there's some actual criminal graft thrown on top, it won't surprise me.

The only way to kill this shit is, at this point, to make the players employees under contract. It's only a matter of time.
