Michigan Coaching Speculation

Les is all about Les. Just look at the Presser 2 hours before game time. He said that he needed to defend his team so they would not be distracted. They were in the locker room getting taped. WTF, do we think they were all gathered around the TV watching their HC? No, they were thinking about the game. That dog and pony show was all about Les's reutation and saving face along with damage controll.

That type of mentality is EXACTLY the type that could do an about face and take the UM job. His rationale would be that he for LSU HAD to say those things to help LSU and for the team to win the SEC championship. He did his job and now can take the UM job with clear a conscious.

Not saying it will happen, but I sure could see it. It is ALL about Les.

Hate to have to be the one to defend Miles, but all you need is for a radio to be on in the locker room. I actually agree that LSU HAD to say those things to get rid of any distractions.

IMO, if I were a Michigan man (Which I am clearly not), I'd right now be heavily interested in Kelly.

I agree, I think that Kelly is the best candidate out there for that position. Hopefully they go another route......because Kelly reminds me a lot of Tressel with his past experience.

Miles has still left the door open and the distractions, while somewhat minimized, are still there...

wonder if all these shenanigans on the part of Less are making AD Martin take a different look at this so-called "Michigan man". maybe that's why their offer is lower than LSU's; to test to see if the guy is really a wolverine or just a weasel!

The Detroit News blogger makes no sense. First, he says that it was a done deal, and that Miles had even picked out his assistants.

Then he comes back two days later and says there was no deal, and that Herbstreit prematurely ejaculated all over the story, destroying a deal that was never done. Excuse me? Who messed up here, exactly? IN HIS OWN BLOG this guy claimed that the deal was done.

My bet is that Herbie got the real inside dirt from someone at Michigan who knew what was up and didn't like it. Perhaps even Lloyd himself or someone close to him? The deal was set, but supposed to stay under wraps. Herbie runs his story, LSU panics and throws cash as LM, but conditional on this UM thing dying NOW. Miles is spooked, because he realizes that the UM athletic department still has a lot of pro-Carr people and sees this as sabotage. He then grabs the LSU offer and says "no thanks" to TSUN, and denies the whole thing like he'd been drunk and hitting on a fat girl.

Either way, I am enjoying the fact that they're claiming that an "Ohio State guy" screwed up their chances at Miles. We wanted them to get Miles!

Now Kirk Ferentz is our only hope. :(

Keep the faith Brutus, with scUM all things are possible. They can still salvage a good situation with Debord or maybe even English. They may even have something spectacular planned, a way to ensure they won't lose another bowl game, they may hire that genius Weis fellow from No D, don't discount the possible "schematic advantage"

God,

Its me again, we both know this won't be the last thing I ever ask for so lets just dispense with the bullshit. I know you have a tremendous sense of humor, so for the sake of that and what's best for your team, please make English or DeBord their next HC. If it has to be Ferentz I can live with it. Lets just keep Kelly where he is for now ok? The UC faithful deserve a good coach.

Thanks

Haven't seen this posted yet... Take this with a grain of salt but it seems Kelly may not be a candidate (from mgoblog.com):

Two people familiar with the process say Cincinnati coach Brian Kelly is not a candidate. He will not be a candidate. I don?t have a specific reason, but Kelly has rubbed people the wrong way at various points in his climb up the ladder.

I think that is a plausible scenario.

Since people are saying Miles was working out details of a contract with LSU for the previous week-what if the source were Miles's agent? He would certainly be "inside" enough for Herbie to take in nationally and the reports might have given the agent and Miles enough leverage to squeeze some serious cheese out of LSU in a panic.
