Jim Tressel (National Champion, ex-President, Youngstown State University, CFB HOF)

That arguement (and article) have come up before (I referenced em, LOL). The only thing is that the NCAA takes these things on a 'case by case' basis.

The mere fact that the NCAA has said that they aren't hitting the school for the dreaded Lack-of-Instutitional-Control-Scarlet-Letter means good (if you want to call them that) things for the school, and not so good things for the coach.

I still think that he keeps his job. August 12th, and no ruling down from the NCAA for another six to eight weeks after that? That's midway through the season. He'd have been gone before then if he wasn't keeping the job, IMHO.

Up until now, I haven't vented much at the Tat5 (yeah, some of you hate that term, but tough [Mark May]), but had they not been so [censored]ing self-centered we'd all be giddy with excitement for a very possible national title run this season. They just couldn't keep clean, play one more season, and then get their big NFL paycheck. They had to put a couple grand in their pocket and some extra ink on their arms. They never should've even put their coach and father-figure in that position in the first place...

According to Antonio Pittman, people had been getting hooked up with tats for a while so I'm not sure I can condemn these kids for something that quite possibly has been occurring for several years. The more I look back at TP's time at tOSU the more I realize that it's JT that went all in with TP and was willing to give a free pass to often. The kids made their mistake, but JT seemingly was willing to cut corners for TP.

If this was Nick Saban and not Tressel, would ESPN be calling for his head? No. ESPN and the media never liked Tressel and now they're trying to convince all that this is a firable offense (compared to Nick Saban's known cheating ways of oversigning) HYPOCRITES!

EsPiN has a billion dollar contract with the SEC....The Big Ten Network is a competitor. So get used to it or do what I do quit watching, visiting or listening to EsPiN.

Much less stressful.

Amen. Don't support them unless absolutely necessary (as in, when they're televising your team). I don't watch ESPN even 5% as much as I did ten years ago. Can't stomach their BS.

At least Nebraska will fit right in with the rest of the Big Ten - ESPN has hated on us since the mid-90s.

And we've hated them right back.

Which explains ESPN's hate affair with Bo Pelini and how they overplayed his 'anger problems' ..sigh..

I disagree. I dislike Saban more than any other coach in college football, but if it were him in JT's shoes right now, he would receive similar media coverage and douchebags like (names not important enough to remember) would be writing articles calling for his head. The difference would be that ESPN wouldn't be taking all the additional cheap shots at Alabama as an institution and the Alabama fanbase that they are oh-so-willing to take at Ohio State and Buckeye Nation.

I could care less how they portray his temper. I think it suits him well, and he gets the job done.

Bill Stoops was the same way early in his HC career. Fiery, overbearing. Then he calmed down.

Bo:

The entire time he's probably thinking, "These !@#$@#$ are @#$@$@#$@ kidding me. Mother !@#$@#$s."

I'll fall on the sword and take the wrath of the BP.
Perhaps ESPN wouldn't be covering this issues as much if it were an SEC coach (although most Auburn people would say the coverage of the Cam Newton Fiascoe trumps anything that's happened in Columbus, rightly so).
If the problem was with Saban, the history of UA suggests that they likely would have eliminated him if there was enough of a reason to do so. This was the program that pulled the contract away from Mike Price after he spent University funds on whores while attending a golf trip in Pensecola.

And nobody gets more cheap shots thrown at them then the fans in Alabama. You can complain about the treatment as much as you want but the condescension towards AU/UA fanbase is volcanic compared to Ohio State digs. They've earned it too.

The allegation that Tressel lied to the NCAA is significant. Since 2006, the NCAA has sanctioned 28 schools for violating the ethics bylaw that Tressel did. Of the 13 head coaches involved, only one kept her job. The others either resigned or were fired by their schools.
Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but how can only 13 head coaches be involved where 28 different schools were sanctioned?

Did someone go around and get sanctioned for the same thing at ten different schools?
