HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

Bingo. The grass isn’t always greener. I’m on the fence about Day but if a change is made, it HAS to be a grand slam. If you can’t almost guarantee it’s a grand slam, you are taking a huge risk. We bitch about Day but it could be significantly worse.
This is just bad logic.

We could do better too. You have no idea what will happen.

I'm interested in beating TCUN, winning the B1G, everything else is gravy.

At this point I don't even care who else they bring in. Blow it the fuck up for all I care. Start over. This isn't working. Day isn't the guy(tm). Maybe the next guy might not be either, but it can't be Day. He clearly doesn't have it mentally for this level of the sport.

Tressel was an unknown when he was hired. Day was an unknown when he was hired as well. Maybe the next guy isn't a top tier guy right now. IDK. But doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result has a certain definition.

As far as a NC goes, I really don't know how I would feel about that if Ohio State won it this year. I would still want them to win any game they're in, of course, but there would be some apathy. I watched the Georgia game a few years ago with some apathy. Still was impressed with their play and wanted them to win, but it certainly wasn't the same. The Game matters.
I want everything to stop…just 1 goal right now. Beat Michigan. We do that and we likely are going to Indy most years anyways.

what is “when forced to change“? This year was the year to do it. The SEC powers weren’t as powerful. Oregon is just getting geared up. Texas seems to be building a juggernaut too. Michigan was down. If not not now, then when? Making the playoffs but not winning is not success in my book.
Let me see how we differ:

This has ran its course.
The season is not over yet. Let's see where things stand on January 20th.

Exactly, we don’t know what will happen. Something we do know is that if his possible replacement is not a home run hire, we would be in this exact same place next year. That’s the entire issue. What coach is going to want to come in and have to replace the active coach with the highest win percentage, with the expectation that they have to immediately follow. If Day goes, this team will get raided in the portal. We already have seen this with Alabama.

The way I see it we have three choices and three possible outcomes
-do nothing:bad
-change: do worse
-change: do better

Standing pat is a bad outcome, making a change is 50/50…and people don’t want to take a chance at good. That’s not smart.

The devil you know isn’t actually better than the devil you don’t know.

If Day stays please quit the chirping hype videos “fake tough guy” posturing. You achieve your own stated goals best ttun win BTC and win NC. Then you can peacock not a victory over Indiana.
Agree. At this point the entire CFB world is laughing at you, Day. You are not tough. You are finesse and very good at it. But you’re not good at tough football. You should just embrace the finesse role and ask to have The Game moved to September so that we can play our weakest foes in November. Then hope for warm weather venues in the CFP

I blame Urban. He’s the one that promoted Day. Also, give me another lesser name coach from Ohio, just like Tressel. Hell, Tim Goodwin from Marion local would probably do better. Along the lines of small school D7, why do we never recruit from the small schools? Those kids have more heart than the 4/5 stars we have every year. Curtis Enis was from a very, very small school. I know, I went to school with him at Mississinawa Valley. Year in year out, Marion Local keeps winning championships, yet no offers. I literally watched a skinny, lanky white boy from Georgia, number 17, make play after play last night. Don’t tell me no kid from a Marion Lical or Coldwater from the MAC couldn’t play here. Ross Homan did just fine. I’m tired of these overrated football camp players who get these 5 stars simply because they show out at camps. Not every kid can afford these camps. Some need to bake hay and milk cows. Just my 2 cents
Passion only takes you so far. At some point the stars on your recruiting rank do matter on game day. Also, I don’t think you were serious about Goodwin for the job. But if you were, you should Google Gerry Faust (RIP).
