HC Ryan Day (2019 B1G Media COY)

And I blame Kelly for the continued run calls. He is the OC. Most people wanted Day to give up play calling and I’m guessing many of the most vocal today wanted it. I did not. Nevertheless, you can’t want and get a new OC then turn around and STILL blame Day.
Pretty simple really: Day is on the headsets in game, as well as prep all week (and year) leading into UM. The buck stops at Day. The assumption is, either Day was vetoing Chip and putting us into worse calls -- or -- the calls were asshole and Day watched as boos rained down from C Deck and we went 3 & out twice after turnovers in 2nd half (3 plays 0 yards, missed FG after Downs pick and then 3 plays 9 yards, punt after Sawyers pick)

Serious question; has Urban ever said he would not come back and coach Ohio State again? I mean us specifically.
I know he's alluded to not being interested in coaching again blah....blah....blah...

But lots of coaches have said that and then they're back on the sidelines with a fat(er) bank account.

So is it a written in stone no or a wink...wink...nod...nod, no...?
No. And even if he had, to your point, you go ask with an offer. It's different when it's in writing in front of you vs some random member of the press asking you in a soundbite.

Anyone in here thinking Ryan Day would accept becoming Ohio States General Manager is out of their mind. It's more likely Saban says yes to coach here than Day agrees to that, in my opinion. Both are LONG SHOTS.

Ask Day - but is he really who you want as GM? Urban makes sense. He did a great job acquiring talent everywhere he went, including the NFL. Urban and his recruiting staff (Pantoni etc) running the operation for someone like Mike Vrabel. That shit makes sense.

I’m not going to let this game ruin a national championship year (and sure I don’t think we will but we are talking hypotheticals). I’m not letting those cheaters ruin my enjoyment more than they have for cheating year after year after year. We win a natty , I’m good. I’ll buy the shirt. The hat. Whatever.

Mins you in mid 50s and grew up where the ONLY game that mattered was this one. It’s 2024 and they’ve ruined that and I’m not going to change it. It’s never going to be the same.
Ryan Day isn’t winning you a NC. He doesn’t have the stones to do it. So good luck with that. He had a a decisive offensive personnel advantage today as he has had in the past and just pissed down his leg. It’s not the first time in a big game and it won’t be the last.

Are we going to lose games, for sure, but today was absolutely inexcusable. After the D got the stop on the first series, it should’ve been an offensive explosion. You have the best wide receivers in the fucking country and a serviceable QB and Oline and you score 10 fucking points at home against a pathetic Michigan team. Get your shoe shine box Day.

This place is starting to look like Facebook. Urban ain't coming back. The Administration would never allow it. Vrabel ain't coming. He's said time after time he has no interest in coaching in college again, even at OSU. He hates recruiting and NIL. He's actually sitting on staff in Cleveland ( hired by the front office) waiting for Stefanski to most likely be fired after this season. He's more likely to win a Super Bowl with the Browns than he is to take a coaching job at OSU.

Fans aren’t patient. If you don’t immediately win and field a NC caliber team next year, you get a chance for this to turn into an Alabama-esque situation. They’re already calling for his head and they most definitely did take 2-3 steps back this year. You no longer get to keep trying and trying again. If you don’t make the immediate splash, you’re shit out of luck and may not get another chance to try again(speaking of the AD only).

Wanting to fire Day is fine, not arguing that but are people really acting like they'd be ok with a meh hire? You can't whiff after the last two decades. Day is coming up short and the base is losing it, for good reasons, while winning 10-11 games a year.

Now everyone's cool taking a step back to 9-4, 8-5? That's ridiculous. There's no whiffing on a new hire. If the admin doesn't make a hire with little to no drop-off from Day, and presumably better than Day, they will all be gone and the fanbase might burn down their houses.

Fire Day, but don't act like anyone will be cool wasting 10+ years on a mediocre product just because they tried. And no, as mad as people are this isn't a mediocre product.

I’m sorry I have to post this after every loss, but Ryan Day being the OSU head coach doesn’t make him a national championship worthy head coach.

I get you, but what has Day shown that would lead you to believe he is the guy that can take this program to the promised land?
Nothing, to be quite honest.

But I believe that Day has a better chance to "luck into" a national championship (a al Ed Orgeron or Les Miles or Gene Chizek or Jimbo Fisher) than any other potential HC candidate. Stay the course and hope for the best versus blow it all up and expect the worst. Neither is a great option but I will go with the former until I am absolutely forced into the latter.

Bingo. The grass isn’t always greener. I’m on the fence about Day but if a change is made, it HAS to be a grand slam. If you can’t almost guarantee it’s a grand slam, you are taking a huge risk. We bitch about Day but it could be significantly worse.

I certainly don’t have the answer, but I’m to the point of not even watching games anymore.

what is “when forced to change“? This year was the year to do it. The SEC powers weren’t as powerful. Oregon is just getting geared up. Texas seems to be building a juggernaut too. Michigan was down. If not not now, then when? Making the playoffs but not winning is not success in my book.

Let me see how we differ:
