ESPN (A bunch of Death-Spiraling maroons)

Yep, get ready to watch Purdue/Indiana on FX (just prior to an all-new Archer or The Americans).

Seriously though, I keep thinking FOX is going to try to entice the Big Ten by making the ownership of BTN different (it's 51-49 FOX right now).

I can't even imagine ESPN's coverage of the Big Ten if the league had no contracts with the network.

Not sure why Fox would offer more ownership to the B1G since it used to be the other way around a few years ago. It is only recently that Fox held the majority share.

The way to fans' hearts in Indiana and Illinois is thru showing B1G BB in some way year round

The way to fans' hearts in Michigan, Ohio, Nebraska, and Ohio is to show B1G FB in some way year round

For folks in Md, NJ, and Va.....show lacrosse

The BTN is slowly building enough content.....and a measurable and loyal audience for that content......to where consumers may choose someday to drop ESPN in favor of the FS1 which is bundled with B1G.

Good write-up on FOX Sports 1, launching Aug. 17, and it going up against ESPN.

The network (FS1) still needs more Tier 1 sports, which makes negotiations with the Big Ten very interesting (in a few years).

FS1 -- now SPEED -- is showing MLB games later this summer.

ESPN looking stupid by deciding to show the last minute of a blowout game (which lasted another 5 minutes) instead of the first two minutes of the Ohio State Indiana game.
I think there were 76 fouls called in the last minute of that game, and each team called 5 time outs. I was surprised that they didn't cover the aftergame press conferences.

The worst part is that I distinctly remember two times when our games have been switched to cover another game. When we played Florida one of the years more recently they switched away towards the end with us pretty much guaranteed a win, to a Baylor - UCONN women's game. The other was when Coach Ratface got his whatever number win. They interrupted our game in the middle of it.

Other than Jim Delany creating BTN and sending a bottle of champagne to ESPN, this is still my favorite Big Ten/ESPN story.

http://deadspin.com/163665/bristol-is-big-ten-country

Jim Delany, the Commissioner of the Big Ten Conference will be on the Bristol campus tomorrow and Thursday. It is important for us to show him and his associates that "Bristol is Big Ten Country".

As you have noticed, we have put pennants, banners, and Big Ten flags on campus. In addition, we have had buttons made proclaiming "Bristol is Big Ten Country".
Watch ESPN change their tune (script) in relation to the Big Ten very fast as we move closer to contract negotiations (in a few years)
