ESPN (A bunch of Death-Spiraling maroons)

As this SEC Network is ESPN-backed (51/49 or whatever the pct.), similar to FOX with BTN, I think it pushes the Big Ten further and further to FOX with its next contract.

The only way the Big Ten stays with ESPN, since the network is clearly in bed with the SEC, is if ESPN overpays by a huge amount.

I think you are misinterpreting what Silve is saying. Silve wants to have a network very similar to that of the BTN - that ain't ESPiN...

ESPN has to be seeing the shift that is about to happen....the more leagues that get their own networks mean the less programming that is available to espin....

No, the SEC Network is backed by ESPN and ESPN is part owner, like FOX is part owner of BTN (51/49 FOX over Big Ten).

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ncaab-...nch-of-tv-network-in-mid-april-180504054.html

It's not like the Pac-12 which has 100 percent ownership of their network and is absorbing all the costs.

You're still wrong. Right now the SEC programming is not separate of the ESPN channels.

What Silve is proposing is very similar to what the BTN is. The SEC network already exists on ESPN airspace. This is wholly different.

I don't know the misunderstanding, because I said that (I thought) (ESPN would part own an SEC Network, keep SEC programming on regular ESPN and collect like FOX does with BTN and distribute to schools, like FOX does).

Who cares anyways. I'm sure Delany (or hope) won't sit around and watch ESPN give preferential treatment to the SEC.

FOX needs Tier 1 programming. Let's hope Bristol, CT burns to the ground.

Bill Simmons suspended, according to Deadspin, for his "First Take" comments.

ESPN won't comment on story, similar to how ESPN wouldn't comment on Bruce Feldman's suspension (they said he was never suspended).

We see what ESPN has morphed into and who they're protecting (i.e. First Take and that whole genre).

I just wish more people would call out ESPN (including current ESPN employees).

while I agree with Bill's opinion, he absolutely should be suspended for it.
he has a following of over 2 million.

you can NOT have an employee tell 2 million customers that your product sucks.
even if it does suck.

i work in sales.
have nowhere near the reach this guy has.

and if my boss ever hears me say to a customer, "dude we're terrible at _____", I'm fired.
non-negotiable.
even if we truly are terrible at whatever it is.

I am not in sales, and I have often said "we are terrible at 'blank.' So have many of the people above me. I guess engineering is a different world. We (or we used to, I am no long with the company) constantly look for weaknesses and try to improve them. That often requires realizing what our weaknesses are and improving upon them. That even includes freely admitting it to the media or customers (which I have done). Of course it also requires a follow up on how we will make it better.

Cold Pizza I found entertaining...

5 mins here and there of Skip vs Woody was good for a laugh...

When the format changed and "The Game" duel of hosts moved on so did my viewing, only thing I see of that show now are clips of folks making fun of how bad its gotten, shame too....

But wouldn't you think there is some value in a supposed news organization maintaining credibility and forthrightness, even if that means accepting some criticism of its individual programming? Simmons didn't say ESPN is "awful" and "embarassing", he said that about one segment of one show. Simmons tweeting crap about First Take is better for the ESPN product/brand than First Take is.

They have idiots dressing up in judges uniforms on their college football shows.

Credibility from ESPiN went out the window when they started having "WWE" style caricatures on their shows, who's opinion is already known before they open their mouths. This is in addition to their reporters claiming other people's scoops as their own.

So, I don't think ESPN gives a damn about credibility.

That's the point, really. Simmons criticizes First Take for demeaning all of ESPN, and ESPN says hey, you can't do that, First Take is ESPN. As they say, "Embrace Debate", except when it gets too real.

Yeah, their (ESPiN) defense is, they had a standing Twitter policy of not commenting on the company (or something to that extent).

It's like Communism. I still love when people leave ESPiN, they go on "Dan Patrick" and tell stories of stuff that happened when they worked in Bristol.
