ESPN refuses to give the Ohio State football team proper credit for Texas win
Suddenly, everyone at that network is rushing to say that Texas actually isn't that good after propping them up all offseason.
The Ohio State football program already has the most impressive win of the college football season, taking down top-ranked Texas in the first game of the season, 14-7. The Buckeyes were able to win the game by any means necessary, which is all you need to do when you play such a good team.
Ohio State totaled just 203 yards of offense, but won on the strength of its stifling defense. This is now the second straight game that Texas has lost, and both have been at the hands of the Ohio State Buckeyes. Yet, all we heard from ESPN was how good Texas was going to be this season.
Everyone at that network touted the Longhorns as the clear number-one team in the country. They couldn't stop fawning over Arch Manning as the best quarterback in the country. Now, they are claiming that Texas was actually overrated, and they refuse to give Ohio State the proper credit for the win.
ESPN insider refuses to give the Ohio State football team proper credit for their win
ESPN insider Heather Dinich did a piece projecting what the CFP poll would look like after Week 1. Instead of putting the Buckeyes number one, since they just beat the number one team, she picked LSU. The SEC bias could not be stronger for this company.
LSU had a solid win against Clemson in a neutral site, but they came into the game ranked ninth. Ohio State was ranked third. Dinich made the point that the CFP committee comes in with a clean slate and previous polls don't matter, but the main reason she didn't pick the Buckeyes is absurd.
"The Buckeyes beat one of the SEC's top teams, and they did it with a first-year starting quarterback, but it was at home against a Texas team that didn't live up to its preseason ranking."
So now that Texas lost, they were an overrated team that actually stinks? Isn't this the same team that Paul Finebaum said would crush Ohio State by double-digits? Dinich is usually a pretty unbiased pundit, but even she seems to have been infected by SEC Derangement Syndrome.
