DL Chris Carter, Jr. (Official Thread)

I think the Plain Dealer article claiming that the case is still under investigation is more recent. Either way, what is currently known seems to be coming from reports given by his lawyer. Not saying they aren't accurate, but his lawyer may be playing with the press a little bit. I think this still has a way to go. It may wind up that no charges are forthcoming, but the fact that the alleged crime occurred on school property and pertains to minors makes me believe that there is going to be a closer look than what his lawyers is telling the press.

If he's still under investigation, it's going to be very difficult to offer him before the smoke clears. If he's cleared, there's no problem.

Agreed.

The next month or so should be interesting.

The article stated the investigation should be completed by today. This isn't a murder case. The police normally don't take a month investigating this type of thing. They simply don't have the manpower. So we should know today. The only thing that could change after that is if someone approaches the police with new evidence, but I doubt the police are going to go around searching for it for the next month.

There has to be a back story to this. I just can't imagine someone agreeing that they did such a thing and then have the police find the notes that supposedly were taken as evidence and then just have the whole thing blow away. I get that charges might not be filed if the "victims" won't come forward, but it still seems like SOME sort of commentary on this has to come out.

It doesn't have to come out. Besides, if all he did was take measurements do you really think the DA is going to waste his time with that? IIRC, Chris did not admit to fondling them. He admitted to the ruse of taking measurements, and there is a book with numbers in it. If that is all, chalk it up to stupid teenage prank. The big question is whether he forced himself on them sexually. The police are talking to all the girls today, and I am sure we will know soon if there will be any further action taken.

I am not saying he is innocent, but if all he did is get some measurements of girls for a scrapbook, sorry, he should not be seeing the inside of a court room. Now, if he physically imposed himself on them sexually, yes, throw the book at him. The thing is, we don't really know the full story at this point. We have some hearsay and conjecture from who knows where. What we do know is he is released without bond and no charges are filed at this point. That could change, but right now I am not about to string the kid up for admitting to taking some measurements.

If he indeed fondled their breasts, then its a type of sexual assualt.

you cannot overlook this...ive been apart of plenty of pranks before but this is a very unusual prank if thats what you want to call it...im not going to get into a huge discussion about this but i think there is something going on mentally with chris and i hope he gets help for whatever it is that caused him to take measurements of girls, file them in a book and then keep the records, before he steps foot on campus

I never said the investigation would take a month. I'm pretty sure JT isn't sitting outside of the kid's house with a letter waiting for the police to end the investigation today.

Whether he is charged or not is one thing. Whether his actions cause OSU to consider withdrawing his scholarship offer is another. That could take some time to determine. Hence, my point.

So Ohio State is going to take a month or so to investigate? After the police investigation is up they will sit down with him and decide. The police investigation is supposed to finish up today. The staff will have all the info at that point. What will take a month to determine? Only if he is charged will it take any longer, even then I am sure the staff will decide well before the whole thing is concluded.

Not to split pubic hairs, but there is fondling breasts and there is fondling breasts, just as there is under age and there is under age.

There are recorded cases of HS seniors touching the breasts of 14 year old girls where no charges of any type were filed.

I am not giving this kid a pass. But the devil is in the details - to which we are not privy.
