DL Chris Carter, Jr. (Official Thread)

morality > laws

Trust the coaches. I do.

I do, and I agree. I just don't think it will take the coaches a whole month to determine his morality. Once they have the police info and sit down with the kid, they will decide. I would be very surprised if the doesn't get charged and the staff lets the kid hang around for a month in hopes to still have a scholarship. Assuming the reports are correct, and the investigation concludes today the staff will have info enough to go talk to him next week. Then they will decide on his scholarship.

Much of this is hearsay and conjecture at this point. Yet even if they think the kid did something wrong, it's not fair to him or the team to spend a whole month trying to determine if they want to pull his scholarship or not.

No charges will be filed, according to a spokesperson from Cleveland.

Dispatch

OSU recruit Carter will not be charged

The path to finally signing a letter of intent with Ohio State now seems open for Chris Carter.

The offensive lineman from Cleveland John F. Kennedy will not be charged in a case that began with his arrest last week for suspected misdemeanor sexual imposition.

Cleveland spokeswoman Maureen Harper said today that the city prosecutor's office concluded its investigation Friday, and "after a full review, there was not enough evidence of sexual contact to charge Mr. Carter with a crime."

Carter had been accused of fondling several girls at his school as he measured them for ROTC uniforms.

Cont'd ...

I, too, am not ready to string the kid up. As best I can discern we have something ranging from:

immaturity and bad judgment****>maybe some psych issues****>sexual assault.

If it falls on the far left end of the scale, I wouldn't have a problem giving the kid his scholarship provided some counseling (and maybe a Red Foreman assfooting) came along with it. I just don't see any need to rush in with a LOI until we know for sure, his actions didn't fall further towards the right end of the spectrum.

heres what i have a problem with

and Carter also admitted to having the book with the measurements of these girls...so it sounds like the police are saying he did the crime but we don't have enough concrete evidence to get a solid charge to stick on him that would be worth it...like ORD said i hope we don't rush right away to have him sign his LOI...i think the coaches are doing a good job of just sorting everything out and letting this situation die down before we make any decisions...like always i am trusting the coaches with this one

There are numerous reasons Mr. Carter may have had a "book of measurements" of girls. Some of these would likely have us wanting him to be a part of someone else's college team, and some would not affect us at all.

"Trust the coaches" was seldom better advice.

Agreed...if I am not mistaken, I thought I read that he was a part of the ROTC program at his school and the book of measurements may very well have been legitimate. All I've seen is innuendo about the book and the girls, so he MUST have been up to no good if he had the book or measurements. Umm, not saying it is the case because I don't know, but he may well have been given the responsibility of getting measurements from those that wanted to join the ROTC program.

Let the coaches do their thing. I think Tress has earned the trust when it comes to handling issues with kids on the team.
