Defensive Staff Next Year?

Freeman has coached more than just a couple years with Fickell. He's got 10 years under his belt now and 5 of that is as a DC or Co-DC where his defenses got better every year. He's sent multiple quality players to the league and he's a Buckeye. He's obviously a good fit here with just those statistics.

He met with the AD at Notre Dame today though so he'll likely be the HC for their shot in the playoff unless he turns it down for some reason. Interim HC in the very least using the playoff game as a trial run.

I always thought Hafley jumped to the BC job to get HC experience while waiting for ND to open up. It didn't and still doesn't make any sense to me otherwise.

He jumped to the BC job largely bc Boston College and Ohio State have a pretty symbiotic relationship where our Athletic Departments have shared many of the same personnel over the last 5-6 years. So BC knew exactly what they were getting and Hafley knew exactly what to expect at BC.

Throw in Hafley being from NJ and having connections throughout the NorthEast and it’s a perfect fit.

Im interested to see the path he takes. I just as easily see him becoming a BC “lifer” while building a solid program where winning 7-8 games a year will keep him safe and the fans happy, as I do see him going big whale hunting and looking for that massive job where he can compete for titles.
