I don’t have a clue and wouldn’t be upset if we stand pat.

Jury may still be out and contingent on the final 3-5 games.

Has Barnes done enough to get the official DC title.

Will Coombs come back.

Would Washington be cool with us going outside and bringing in a DC given the fact he turned down the Tennessee DC gig.

I probably would be bothered if change isn’t effectuated at least to some extent. You might increase the talent level a bit; but given this group I’m confident this is the output you’ll see.

Why the final 3-5? Why is the season the barometer itself? At no point has it actually been impressive except for maybe the PSU game (at times) and Nebraska (again - at times)

No, how has he? If anyone cites improvement from Ccombs that’s absolutely hilarious. I don’t think he’s a guy that actually raises the bar here.

What do you mean? I’m not seeking his approval for an external hire; I’ll consult to see if he feels he’ll work well with someone under the assumption he doesn’t plan on retiring like next year?

You’ll catch a lot of flak for posting this thread but I can’t avoid thinking about it personally. Posters are going to say “really, during a title run?” Quite frankly I don’t see it as a “NC run” but ultimately this team probably gets blown off the field by UGA or Alabama and quite frankly I’m not sure why w assume this team just wiped the floor with Oregon in a rematch.

Unless he takes a drastic pay cut, I don’t see how Coombs stays. He’s way overpaid to not be the DC.

And if Barnes is the secondary coach too, seems like Coombs is just a glorified analyst right now.

This fanbase sometimes....

It was literally 45-14 Saturday and they took their foot off the gas and forced Purdue to drive the field. Purdue is good enough (this year) to do it, but it took time and there were no quick strikes. That was the entire idea and Purdue was still right at their seasonal averages. No one got hurt that we're aware of, nothing really got exposed, they were able to rotate people in and they didn't show Sparty or scUM anything important after that point.

As for the staff, who knows? Barnes is probably the DC next year. I could see them keeping Coombs around as co-DC just for his recruiting. Worrying about what Coombs is being paid is silly, this isn't UCF, it's Ohio State.

Ohio State is Ohio State because they don’t have to overpay for assistant coaches. It doesn’t matter how much money they have. Paying over a million to an assistant secondary coach is stupid.
