A new article in Dr. Vicky Triponey, from CNN:

http://www.cnn.com/2012/07/15/us/triponey-paterno-penn-state/index.html?hpt=hp_c1

Some of these excerpts may have already been posted, but the still make my jaw drop...

Repeated for emphasis:

That encapsulates their entire approach to Sandusky as well. Unreal.

Sandusky offered to tell Curley the identity of the kid that he had been in the shower with in February, 2001 when McQueary saw them together, and Curley "did not accept this invitation" - per the Freeh Report.

That epitomizes the lack of concern for the welfare of any kid, the overriding desire to not report anything negative, and their desire to attempt to keep plausible deniability.

Do you have the page or section that this is referenced?

I want to say that this is the most disgusting part of the Freeh report, but there are just too many disgusting parts for me to call just one the most disgusting. Unfuckingbelievable. The whole place needs to burn...

This quote from Triponey's email illustrates why heavy NCAA sanctions are appropriate:

"I must insist that the efforts to put pressure on us and try to influence our decisions related to specific cases ... simply MUST STOP," she wrote. "The calls and pleas from coaches, board members and others when we are considering a case are indeed putting us in a position that does treat football players differently and with greater privilege ... and it appears on our end to be a deliberate effort to use the power of the football program to sway our decisions in a way that is beneficial to the football program."

So not only coaches, but Board members, used their influence to gain special disciplinary treatment for football players. Let's hope the NCAA and Ms. Triponey have a nice chat.

Yes.

And let's hope the NCAA actually does something right for a change.

Penn State Fooball wanted to reap the rewards that come with being a modern style program with a huge stadium, BigTen television revenue, great media exposure (for on-field stuff only)..............yet be allowed to run their program internally like an old-school "good ole boys" club complete with an iron curtain around the disciplinary side of the house.

My guess is that with 46 years of players all having experienced the same basic JoePa and PSU Football, that they simply didn't know what a truly compliant program was like. Therefore they "think" their disciplinary and academic treatment was normal or at least acceptable.

The whole program needs to be cleaned out, halted for a couple years, then re-started with a leader that is not connected with PSU in any way, shape, or form.
