Astro's will have a good shot to tie us for top in the AL today, since Saladbar will be starting. Can he make it more than 2 2/3 innings this time?
So far, four scoreless with 8 Ks. This is what's so fucking frustrating about him...you never know which saladbar is gonna show up...the unhittable K machine, or the guy that can't locate his pitches for shit and gets pummeled. He's the most Jeckyll/Hyde pitcher I've ever seen.

My guess is he'll be on a 50 pitch count or so... so, most likely not much more.

I don't understand this whole [Mark May] with him, Tomlin and Sunshine in light of the Allen issues. Personally, I think they'd have been better off getting Salazar one inning every other day (as much as possible) and tell him, throw the fast ball and change and nothing else and pound the strike zone and see how he does getting 3 outs. And I guess this and the last "start" are just long relief auditions but... cut his dumb ass down to the 2 pitches he can throw for strikes - and are in fact plus pitches - and see how he looks. How many long guys do you need, we're already wasting Clevinger there... (if Tomlin is actually starting game 4... and I don't want that clown facing the Twins or the Yankees (especially in Yankee stadium)

Personally, I go:

Bauer
Kluber
Carrasco
Clevinger
Kluber

Either way, Olson better eat his wheaties, and if they're gonna have a zillion multi inning guys, I'd think about using McFastball as a Righty matchup guy and see if you can piece a late inning or two out of that pair.
If I am reading your post correctly, I guess I do not understand why you would want Bauer to start the first game of the playoffs. Personally, I would go

Kluber
Cookie
Bauer
Clevinger
Kluber

However, neither one of our rotations is going to be the way Francona goes. I highly doubt if he is going to use Clevinger in any type of starting role. I think he is going to be strictly a relief pitcher in the playoffs. I sure as hell hope that they (Francona) do not substitute the Little Cowboy for Clevinger. That would just about do me in.

If Saladbar's performance last night with any type of indicator what he might be able to do in the postseason I certainly would put him in the bullpen and screw his head on straight. I do not think I want to see Mcfastball coming in for a relief appearance or even being on the roster.

Unfortunately, we are stuck with Shaw and Allen because those are Francona's love childs. I would personally pitch Miller's arm off.

So, the 2nd and 5 game are a regular rest increment, so that's giving Kluber his 4 days and still gets you game 5.

Also, Bauer is 9-4 at home (4.08) and 7-5 on the road (4.54.) Of course lately it hasn't mattered too much.

Meanwhile Carrasco is 11-2 (2.65) on the road and 6-4 (4.38 at home)

Bauer is also the youngest member of the staff (Sunshine included), and also, I'm guessing the most likely to have an early exit (hopefully the Tito playing it stupid safe after 4 2/3 type, but who knows. In game 1, you'll have all hands on deck to be able to react to it.

Finally, I think 3rd (though I haven't checked) the likely scenario here is that you face the other team (provided its the WC play in winner) on the road against their ace.

So I'm simply pointing out that Bauer first, Carrasco 3rd and Kluber on normal rest for 5 plays to everyone's relative strengths. Plus didn't drone boy beat the Red Sox the first game last year?

The Twins must that celebrated too much last night. Cookie with 13 K's through 8 innings.
@AKAK I guess Cookie could pitch at home:wink: All of that pitching rotation is too complicated for me.

Personally I think the 4th game is gonna be a Saladbar/Sunshine collaborative effort at this point, but who the fuck knows. Trash anyway.
