But see, that's the thing. Cowherd, Stephen A, Skip, those clowns? Who cares what they say. They're just media talking heads.

HOWEVER...

Damien Woody isn't a talking head. The guy is a two time Super Bowl Champ and a Pro Bowler who played 173 games.
Deion Sanders isn't a talking head. The guy is a two time Super Bowl Champ, 8 time Pro Bowler with a bust 59.9 miles south from where Baker plays.
LaDainian Tomlinson isn't a talking head. The guy is a five time Pro Bowler, league MVP with a bust 59.9 miles south from where Baker plays.
Cris Carter isn't a talking head (as you well know). He too has a bust 59.9 miles from there and played at some obscure school in Ohio somewhere....:biggrin2:

When cats like that talk, you should listen. Baker is arrogant (has always been, and it's served him well his whole life), but he could afford to be that way. Doesn't work well when you are paid to do what you do that way. There's a locker room element, and a relationship element here.

From Hue's point of view...

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft...r-mayfield-until-five-weeks-before-nfl-draft/

"I respect (the speculation),'' Jackson said. "Anytime you draft a quarterback at No. 1 overall, everyone wants to see him play, but I've made a true commitment to our football team. Tyrod Taylor's going to be the starter. Baker's going to compete and however that unfolds it unfolds, but right now Tyrod is the starter.''

Jackson has no doubt learned a lesson from the last two seasons, when then-rookie Cody Kessler went winless in eight starts in 2016 and 2017 second-round pick DeShone Kizer was 0-15 during his rookie campaign. Neither quarterback is still on the Browns' roster.

"If Baker can understand the National Football League and all the rigors and the grinding that you have to go through, I'm not going to ever stop a player from being the best he can be. But we have a plan and I want to work that plan as much as we can,'' Jackson said. "Now, can a player supersede that? You never know. I haven't had that happen, but right now this team is going to be led by Tyrod Taylor.''

Maybe he wanted to see how he handled the 2nd team QB duties? No idea, but the guy did still make the then on paper sound decision to make Taylor the #1 (guy got the Bills to THE FREAKING PLAYOFFS).

CC said that he's known Baker going on 5 years now, and he thinks that when the guy sees the optics of it, he'll tone it back and think he could have handled this better.

Lastly - if Skip Bayless and Brady Quinn are your character references in this matter....

I think he has a fair point. TTech didnt offer him a scholarship...
Why he's responding on social media is silly. If youre gonna do that, offer an interview and make your point.
Maybe he thrives on headlines and seeks those chips to put on his shoulder?

I heard a couple other views on this, none of them good.

If anybody watched Hard Knocks, you could see that Todd Haley was a problem for Hue Jackson. There were obvious points where he openly challenged his head coach and questioned his authority.

Probably why he got fired, cause he's a douche AMD was trying to sabotage Jackson...not that he needed help.

Who knows WHAT he said to his young rookie #1 draft pick QB....

Let's be real.... Baker is pissed cause he wasn't starting sooner. Thing is, he said that he bought into the fact that Hue was going to play Taylor.

And as far as Haley...I think it was painfully obvious he was trying to sabotage Hue's job, LOL...

Fired Todd Haley apparently thought he was going to get the Browns interim coaching job

"Why did they fire Todd Haley?" Rutigliano said, via Pro Football Talk. "I talked to him on the phone. When he was going to the office he thought he was going to take over. And he got fired."

Ouch. That must have been quite the stunner for Haley, who was let go by the Browns after just nine and a half months with the team. According to Rutigliano, Haley literally had "no idea" that he was going to get canned when he walked into the office of Browns general manager John Dorsey.

"He said to me, 'I had no idea. When I was going back into the office I thought possibly if they were going to let Hue Jackson go, that I would have the opportunity now to be the interim coach and then get the job eventually, and that's why I came here,'" Rutigliano said. "And then it went the opposite direction."

How much of a douche must you be to figure the guy is getting fired, but you take the job when he brings you in? And now you know why he isn't in Pittsburgh anymore, too...

Easily the best rookie class we've had since the expansion and it really isn't even close.

Baker, Ward, Chubb and Avery are all looking good early on. I don't expect Chad Thomas to amount to much of anything but Corbett could have a home on the Oline next year.

Any thought Willians had of keepingvthis job next year are now out the window...he’s made about 5 mind-numbingly stupid, Hue Jackson like decisions already
Not a big Williams fan as a HC. Not quite sure about McCarthy who I am sure will get interviewed Would like to see a fresh face but I am really not that fond of any of the names that have surfaced so far. I do not think I want a college coach.

I would love to see Williams and Kitchens stay on as coordinators but I'm not sure a) a new coach isn't going to want to bring in his own guys or b) Williams is going to take kindly to being demoted back to a coordinator role. Could a McCarthy/Williams/Kitchens marriage work?

I agree that none of the names that have surfaced so far greatly excite me and I also agree that I don't think a college coach getting his first NFL experience is the right fit. I wanted Dan Quinn when he was available but you see how that's working out for Atlanta right now.

Interesting that Dorsey might have some interest in Kareem Hunt. Terrible idea if so.
