Cleveland Browns (2009 Season)

Regardless of what Bradford decides to do, I think he's the best QB in this class, by a long shot.
If that's the case, then drafting a QB this year is a bad idea. It most likely would have been a bad idea anyway, since, IMO, drafting a QB that could be the missing piece, is a much more sound way to go than drafting one to sell jersey's as the next possible savior of the franchise.

The Browns have too many needs for a rookie QB to be the missing piece. Fill holes elsewhere, and I'll sign off on the Browns drafting a QB, early, 2 or 3 years from now.

I hear what you're saying and I don't disagree with you at all. We don't know what the Browns are going to do at this point, it's entirely too early. The first step is deciding what to do with Anderson and Quinn. Who stays, who goes? Do they both go? Once we have that answer, then I think the team can decide where to go from there.

As a fan, I wouldn't have any problem with ManKok drafting a solid prospect in the first round that isn't a QB, at almost any position (with the exception of WR). Suh, Berry, Mays, McCoy and so on, anyone who can help this team improve will work for me. We need as many talented players as we can get our hands on.

However, I don't necassarily think that it's going to be a poor year to draft a QB. It's only my opinion, but I just happen to think that Sam Bradford (when he's 100% healthy) has the total package in terms of being an NFL QB. I don't think that Bradford possibly being the top QB in 2010 is a bad statement against this draft class. Only time will tell how things will unfold.

Either way, I don't think we'll have a clue which direction we're going in until ownership and administration figure out what to do with their existing QB's.

They suck about as bad as I have ever seen. However, they could be worse. They could have missed that field goal that bounced off the goalpost.

they'll win a couple games on the back end when they play KC and Oakland.

besides, it's possible the rams and tampa both go winless.

what will be interesting is whether or not DA survives past the bye week as the starter as at that point, quinn's $11 million escalator will be out the window.

Loved the comment from Jimmy Johnson yesterday where he advised the Browns to goto the Wildcat full-time, because if they keep playing DA and BQ they won't be able to trade either of them as their value continues to go down.

:slappy: That was a brutal halftime segment...they destroyed the Browns (with good reason)

I think they should spend a majority of their early draft choices picking up offensive personnel. Get another dominating offensive lineman, pickup a very good back, and a WR with sure hands. If they have to trade for a few of these, fine. They need to start getting the offense on track. I'm not saying this defense doesn't need serious help, but lets see if we can actually keep them off the field for more than a 3 and out. It may actually give them some more confidence. We can't get by with shutouts and 3 point scoring games.

I'm sorry but I just don't think that Mangini is the right man for the job. I mean there are a lot of guys talking about him fining guys $1700 for the three dollar bottle of water.

In addition, if it did not come down from Lerner not to play Quinn until after his escalator clause is no longer good it's rather obvious that Mangini is so headstrong that he doesn't even try to be competitive. I mean what the hell did he have to lose by not putting in Quinn yesterday. He can always go back to is homeboy
next week.
