Cavs 06-07 season thread

Hell Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Playoffs pairings...

1 Detroit
8 Orlando

4 Miami
5 Chicago

3 Toronto
6 New Jersey

2 Cleveland
7 Washington

That means we will get the Wizards in the first then the winner of NJ/Toronto in the 2nd...

I see us with maybe a sweep over Washington or a 5 game series, then a fairly easy 2nd series against Toronto or NJ...Maybe a 5 or 6 game series...

Then we will get a worn down Miami, Detroit, Chicago team that had to go thru each other...

Must say it looked bleak there for a couple weeks, but we are playing much better and hopefully we have learnt how to get LBj the ball in different places on the floor...

Anything less than the Conference Finals would be a huge dissapointment...
I agree. But I'm going in with guarded optimism. There's been a handful of times this season that the Cavs have seemed to get it together only to go into the tank for a week to 10 days. I agree we take Washington easy and think we shouldn't have trouble with either TOR/NJ. The conference finals would be another building block, but I don't see us getting past either DET or MIA. Who knows with this team though. If they were a little more consistent during the season, it would have been a 55 win team. But hey, 50 wins and a 2 seed is nothing to shake a stick at.

Hopefully now that every game means something, they play with fire night in and night out. They certainly suprised me by winning the last 4, so hopefully this is them really turning the corner at just the right time. I'm still very concerned about the FT shooting...

Wow, talk about a perfect day in the NBA. I bet the Pistons wish they were the 2 seed right now. If the Cavs don't make it to the Finals this season will be a disappointment. Wizards, Raptors, and only one of the Pistons, Heat, or Bulls.

What a great night of basketball. I just wish I could have actually seen the Cavs game instead of having to follow it online.

I really like the way the bracket sets up, though Toronto is the ultimate unknown. It'll be interesting to see how they do in their first round series. I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see NJ take that series.

Garbosa is out for the season, and Mo Pete got hurt last nite, not sure how serious that is...

I know they've suffered some injuries as the season winded down, but they still have some pretty good players that have never been to the playoffs. I think Bosh is a great player, so I'm really interested to see how he plays in the first round.

I still think the Cavs would beat them fairly easily.

It was nice to see Lady Luck smile on a Cleveland team for once. I still remember a few years back the Cavs losing out on the playoffs on a tie breaker, to the Nets. Nice they helped us out this time. With Arenas out, the Wiz don't have a chance. Even with Gil, they would have a real tough time with how well this team is playing right now.

Watch out for the Nets. They may have underachieved all year long, but they are still more talented than the Raptors and I think they'll take that series.

Randy Mos... err.. Vince Carter will show up to play big time in that series against his former team. And he loves to play against Lebron.

When he tries, Vince can still put up 40 ... when he's not mailing it in.

Yeah, they are a talented team, but don't have enough depth to be able to go a full 7 game series and don't really bring anything in terms of size with Kristic out...They have Josh Boone and Mikey Moore who both go about 6'10 and NacBar on the wing that might go 6'7''...

Kidd has struggled this year, same with Jefferson, so unless they get 20 pts games from guys like Mikey Moore liek they did tonite to go along with very good games from Boone and NacBar they are just not deep enough...

Breaks fall Cavs' way

Win over Bucks, Bulls' loss combine to capture No. 2 playoff seed

By Brian Windhorst

Beacon Journal sportswriter

CLEVELAND - Jackpot.
First, the Cavaliers took care of their business Wednesday, hammering the Milwaukee Bucks 109-96 to cinch a 50-win season.
Then, in a grand confluence of karma, everything possible around the NBA went their way in an intense hour after the final horn. Without control of their destiny and on the wrong side of tiebreakers, the Cavs watched as the New Jersey Nets beat the Chicago Bulls to send the valuable No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs to Cleveland.
It assured the Cavs not only of homecourt advantage in the first two rounds of the playoffs, but also a spot on the softer side of the bracket away from the defending-champion Miami Heat, the conference-champion Detroit Pistons and the fast-charging Bulls. Had the Bulls won in New Jersey, the Cavs would have had the No. 5 seed.

Gilbert wants to see Cavaliers advance to conference finals

Owner, even before No. 2 seed secured, thinks team should top 2006 finish

By Terry Pluto

CLEVELAND - The Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference finals?
That's what Dan Gilbert seems to believe is a realistic goal for his team as the playoffs open at Quicken Loans Arena against Washington.
The Cavs' owner spoke to the media at halftime of his team's 109-96 victory over Milwaukee on Wednesday night.
``We got to the second round (of the playoffs last year), and I'd certainly like to see us grow,'' said Gilbert. ``The tree is either growing or dying; it's one way or the other... To call (the season) a success, I'd certainly like to see us go up a notch.''
He meant playing for the Eastern Conference title.

Cavaliers game day

Cavs sink four attendance records

Teams gets 32nd sellout of season. Tickets gone for first 2 playoff games

By Brian Windhorst

Beacon Journal sportswriter

CLEVELAND - It was just four years ago the Cavaliers were last in the NBA in attendance, and the season finale featured some jeering following an unwanted victory that cost the team pingpong balls in the approaching LeBron James lottery.
The 180-degree turn was crystallized Wednesday night, when the Cavs set a slew of franchise attendance records.
The club sold out its 32nd game of the season against the Milwaukee Bucks, breaking the record of 31 from the first season at Quicken Loans Arena in 1994-95.

First game has been scheduled for 12:30 Sunday...

I don't understand why teams were resting guys as much going into the playoffs. Is 3 days off not enough time to rest? It isn't like the NBA playoff schedule is a brutal as a conference tourney in CBB. They only play 2 or 3 games a week.

Yeah, only thing I can think of is injury prevention...
