Time for the best part of the NBA... the offseason moves and signings.
Exhawg I agree with you about Gibson coming off the bench but I like another approach to the offseason. First off I agree about resigning Andy, he is a great bench big that can play both PF and C and will be needed as Z's minutes decline as he gets older.
But Sasha is a different story. I know everyone will want to trade Z, Gooden and Hughes and the rest of the spare parts (Snow, Jones & Marshall) but those guys are almost untradable as other teams don't want them and would only be useful as filler for any trade. Of course we can sign and trade Andy but he is too valuable to this team as Z's eventual replacement. So if we want to make some changes that leaves us one chip to trade, and his name is Sasha Pavlovic. He has shown enough talent to get us something back in trade plus he won't be making too much cash to be untradable.
An example of a trade is something I saw in a NBA rumors posting somewhere else (can't remember if it was Hoopshype or RealGM). But the thought is Toronto is interested in Sasha and might be willing to trade their backup PG, Calderon. And at some points he was outplaying TJ Ford this year.
So would you be willing to trade Sasha to get us a decent starting PG? Then you can slide Hughes back to SG. You have Gibson who can be the 6th man to come in for either Hughes or the starting PG. And also don't forget about Shannon Brown. Hopefully the year on the bench allowed him to get 100% healthy again and some practice time to be able to contribute next year.
If we can get a PG by trading Sasha it is easier to replace him as you can find scrap SG/SF all over the league for not much money that are decent.
And then the most important move of the offseason. Someone to convince Ferry to give Mike Brown an ultimatum. FIND THE BEST OFFENSIVE ASSISTANT COACH AND HIRE HIM. Or, Mike Brown you better polish off your resume cuz you will be gone. I doubt that will happen, but we really need to find someone who's sole purpose to to install an offensive system and run it.
