C Amir Williams (Worcester Wolves - England)

Amir did not show much in the exhibition game against Walsh. It does not look like he has improved much offensively from last season. He is almost a liability when they throw the ball into him. As DZ mentioned it in an above post his free-throw shooting needs a lot of improvement and fast.. He will help at the defensive end because of his size but that is about it unfortunately.

Another strong game from Amir tonight against American, career high 16 points to go along with 7 boards. Really good to see Amir playing his best ball of his career, as certainly OSU needs it. Amir's play has been perhaps the most pleasant surprise on the OSU team this year.

Amir Williams is producing early for Ohio State.
It has only been four games and the only real test the Buckeyes have had was against Marquette, but it's tough not to be encouraged by the way Williams has played so far this season. The 6-foot-11 center is averaging 9.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks and is giving Ohio State legitimate production in the pivot. Why is this so important? Last season, in an effort to get his best players on the floor, Thad Matta went to a smaller lineup toward the end of the year that featured 6-8 Deshaun Thomas at center. If Williams can continue to play at the level he has so far this season, the Buckeyes will be able to play with a traditional lineup for longer stretches once this team gets into the Big Ten.

Agreed. He and Scott appear to be most improved on the team. If Craft can get any sort of a consistent jumper and Ross gets it going, we're gonna be pretty difficult team to beat.

No doubt Amir had a terrific statistical game against Wyoming, but would like to point out his second and third efforts on at least two plays to get the ball, shoot, miss, rebound, put back, etc. Also on the defensive side, he rotated (not always however) down and blocked a shot, not out of bounds, but to an tOSU player (out of bounds would have given Wyoming possession). That speaks of good body control and court awareness. This doesn't shot up in the stats, but goes along way toward making for a great team. Kudos to Amir. Not his thread, but thought Trey picked it up as well......

Big man, we've been on your butt all year long and will continue to be, but tonight was a step in the right direction. Playing with more fire in that second half was a monster contribution to this team. Don't go backwards. Dig forward now and play angry.

I won't be using the 2013 Wichita State mantra. Ever. Just FYI :sneaky:

Amir needs bring more toughness defensively. This team was still struggling in the paint on D and Amir had 0 rebounds and 1 block in 23 minutes.
