C Amir Williams (Worcester Wolves - England)

Yeah, I'll piggy-back on that. The Bucks gave awesome effort defensively on the perimeter but their interior defense has to improve to win any games in the post-season. Amir can't just disappear from the offensive in the half court sets or OSU becomes too one-on-one oriented and they aren't good enough to win that way. McDonald and Amir had 1 rebound between the two of them. Not good.

Six weeks later, it was deja vu all over again versus Dayton. :bonk:

Chalk up this years performance to a lot of things that went wrong okay? 1st of all, the Buckeyes shooting percentage this year, compared to others in the past, were pretty bad. And as the season wore on, maybe the team started losing confidence in their
shooting game. Aaron Craft was much more successful with the dribble drive to the hoop last year than this year. And opposing
teams were ready for that in 2014. Scott and Thompson need to stick around for next year.

I still have "Faith" with Willams and his game next year, being that "He is still a young Kid" as you have said.

Maybe Thad will take a look back at what his failures were and try and reflect on how he can get better for next year. We all have things that get in our way as life goes on and we will have certain "hicc-cups to deal with and learn from that also. I have "Faith " in The Ohio State Buckeyes. Always remember that if you don't have faith in your self - how can you have faith in the teams that you are supporting. I took a peak at your Avatar and the inscription of "HOLYBUCKEYE" and wonder to myself, how much faith do you have in the Buckeyes. Something to think about huh.

I am a Buckeye..I root for tOSU. I am also a Cub Bear and Bulls fan. I have had many favorites from Jerry Lucas on. The only athlete I ever had FAITH in was Michael Jordan. If you put your faith in college kids just finding their way you are liable to be disappointed a lot.

The odd thing is you could argue Williams was the most improved player on the team

No way. Sam Thompson's jump shot this year compared to last year? Huge difference/improvement. Not sure how his %'s compare statistically but his game just looked much improved, including the highlight dunks. Amir is still doing a lot of the same things he did when he was a frosh/Soph: His post moves are limited, has suspect hands, he does not have a mid-range game, brings the ball down so the little guys can get it, brings energy to the floor for about 1/2 the possessions and takes the other 1/2 off. The only reason he stays on the floor is b/c we don't have a better option. Which means the mistakes are not going to get corrected. I'll stop being so critical. His foul shooting has improved a lot. He needs to start working with McDonald...lol.

Shot 40% from 3 last year and 35% this year and only made 4 more this year. Averaged more rebounds last year. Everything else was about the same

I can see your argument. All I am saying is that I watched every OSU game this year and Sam is the only player in my mind who made remarkable improvements in his jumper and his overall game, despite what the stats say. Q was very average early on and was what we expected he would be all along as the season progressed. I am curious as to what % the difference between jumpers to dunks compared to last year for Thompson. If you have those numbers? We all know what dunks can do to a shooting %. Look at Amir for instance: You would think he was a superstar based on his shooting % alone. Sam seemed so confident shooting the jumper compared to years past. And he hit a lot of tough shots this year too. I do see your argument though as far as his overal stat line. Looks very similiar, if not worse.

Wow.............not too many positive things can be found in this thread about Williams. Hope he does not come in to BP to read some of these posts. Would not do very much good for his Ego.
A kid that big having his feelings hurt over some things said on the internet might just be why he is basically invisible during games. Maybe reading BP before games might piss him off enough to actually be a big man.

I think he just needs to get tougher and build up his stamina a little more and with a little work on his ball skills I think he will be fine next year. I think he does have a fairly nice shooting touch but he just never got the ball that much and I do not know if that was because of game planning or because of him.
