Unexpected lift -- Ohio State's 11-game winning streak has been fueled by its use of a small lineup, but the Buckeyes received a helping hand from their tallest player against Arizona.
Amir Williams, the 6-foot-11 starting center, showed a flash of fire in the second half when he grabbed four rebounds, blocked a shot, made a seal, and scored two points in eight minutes of playing time.
"Amir gave us some great minutes," said OSU assistant coach Jeff Boals.
Williams had totaled three points and four rebounds in OSU's first two NCAA tournament victories over Iona and Iowa State, and his statistic line in eight minutes of last night's first-half showed one block, one turnover and one foul.
But Williams helped fuel Ohio State's big run when the Buckeyes erased a 38-34 halftime deficit and built a 10-point lead in the first nine minutes of the second half.
"It feels great to be that guy to energize the team," Williams said. "I came up with a couple big blocks and rebounds and gave my team some energy."
