2017-2018 Ohio State Men's Basketball (24-7, 15-3, #2 Seed in B1G Tourney)

Not only is the writing on the wall, somebody wrote it in permanent marker.

The one thing I hope is that Ohio State wouldn't make a change for next season this late. If a change was going to be made for 2017-18, I'd hope it would've been right after the season.

At this point though, maybe OSU can get ahead of the situation and have plenty of time (if a change is to be made for after 2017-18). The only reason to make a change now (for 2017-18) is if an NBA coach leaves the NBA for OSU.

i think that either matta is announcing his immediate retirement or his retirement following next season. my guess is it's the latter, which should ensure a smooth transition to a good coach. most programs don't have the luxury of time and publicity.

At least it's out there. Otherwise, my initial reaction is you have to be kidding me...

This couldn't have been decided 3 months ago to just end it and go down the road for his protegé?

Best of luck/health to Thad this year and beyond.

I'm sad to see him go after all the success he had, but it had to be done. The timing is curious to say the least......Now is better than nine months from now, I think.....but probably not as good as three months ago.

Gene better have someone good in mind if this is his doing.
