Um, yes. Go to the site and the overwhelming majority selected Golic's as the worse of the two. https://r.espn.go.com/espn/contests/hummer/index2

Also, they both have their faults.
who cares what ESPiNs web goers think.. go check out their forums.. i would value the opinions of the posters here 5.. no at least 10X that size

seriously, i thought you were saying we are in the (dum dum dum) "defiante minority" here, which is why i threw in the slappy face and thought i was in the twilight zone

Danke, Sandgk. Your view (key losses) is what I was thinking before I even asked the question.
The curious part about this is that one of touted strengths of the Oklahoma team is also one of their weaknesses - retention and departures.

One thing on which the Sooners could count last year was Paul Thompson bailing them out with a big pass play. That option is gone.
One thing they also could count on was a pretty miserly defense. True, the majority of their secondary returns - all 4 starters in fact - but the job of that secondary was made much easier by a very effective pass rush. That pass rush is gone. Even so that touted secondary ranked 41st in the nation in pass D. One other statistic - Oklahoma gave up under 100 yards per game on the ground ground. That is pretty damned good in anyone's book. This is less than you might expect given the Sooners touted secondary. It may be difficult to replicate given the departed and disruptive defensive tackles and ends - not to forget the departed LB duo headed by Alexander.
The five defensive departures described above make me wonder if a real linchpin of any completely successful Stoops team will be there this year - a stout defense, ranked in the top 20 or better on both sides of the ball.

I wouldn't put much stock on pass D rating. If you have a great run D, teams would start throwing more because they can't run, which tends to skew numbers a lot.

It looks like a 2 team race, USC and LSU.
Everyone else scrambling to get close enough for a shot should one falter.
SC looks like it could go through that schedule like a hot knife............
LSU has a tougher schedule.........
Don't discount Texas! Although Chizik is gone.
We could go undefeated and not get enough respect(because of perception) to get the Big Invite. The same could be said for any Big Ten team. :(

With the 2008 College Football season quickly
approaching, whose Top 10 rankings do you
agree more with, Greenberg or Golic?

5. W. Virginia
6. Oklahoma
7. Virginia Tech
8. Rutgers
9. Louisville
10. Ohio State

Golic
1. USC
2. Texas
3. Florida
4. Ohio State
5. LSU
6. Oklahoma
7. Wisconsin
8. Michigan
9. Notre Dame
10. Arkansas

I don't know if the homer pick that Golic snuck in there outweighs the obvious problems with Greenburg's rankings.

And I seem to think that Oklahoma doesn't know who their QB is going to be yet (and if they do, he's untested), so somehow I think they both have the Sooners overrated at this point in time.

Greenburg ranking Florida #4, considering they are in the SEC with a brand new QB and a lot of new players on defense seems a bit high to me as well.

But pre-season polls are worth about as much as this post is
