I can't comprehend how a computer poll can be considered valid when a one loss team (who lost to an unranked team, I might add) is #1 over a team which is undefeated (and which has played a legitimate D-I schedule (ie not Boise State). Makes no sense to me.

I believe UM was #1 in one of the computer polls last week.

You think that is bad, how in the world do the computers justify putting Whisky at 12? I'm not entirely sure that Whiskey deserves to be in the top 6 but I at least know they are a top ten team. ND's average ranking is nine and Whiskey played Scum tougher in AA no less.

Maybe it has to do with their 77th-rated schedule.

Strength of Schedule. The one loss SC shows is outweighed in the Colley Matrix method by the wins they have over ranked teams that have also beaten a ton of opponents. Most particularly they benefit from the Arkansas win, plus having two additional top 25 wins.

Anyway, I'm not bothered, per BCS the low and high CPU measures are tossed, leaving the average of the remaining four.

.... I'm sorry, but seeing those names in the top 25 makes me laugh! Michigan has struggled with every single opponent they've faced!
Other than one surely, who also lost last night?

Speaking of which, if there is any sense beyond pure cash in the BCS selection process we would see ND passed over. It is not going to happen, because the bowl selection committees want those bums in seats. But, let's face it, they don't have one of the automatic berths sewn up.
So, are they arguably a better choice as a football team to complete a 5th BCS game bill, than say Auburn, or Oklahoma?

Given last nights effort, I think that is a perfectly reasonable question to pose.

Looks like Iowa (6-6) will get Texas (9-3) in the Alamo Bowl. Iowa has already accepted their invitation, and most bowl projections have the OU/NU winner in the Fiesta, the loser in the Holiday, and A&M in the Cotton, which means UT is headed to San Antonio.

I may go if I can get a $10 ticket. The military here in town gets the cheap upper deck seats in the Alamodome.

This is correct. There is too much money invloved to keep ND out of a BSC game. Even Though I can't remember the last time ND beat a ranked team. It's almost unreal how they are elevated to superteam status so long as they have a winning record.
I would say that they are as good as Auburn or Oklahoma especially offensively.
