All that aside, Kristofer had all but acknowledged privately that he was going to commit to a school other than Ohio State; so, no real harm done. GO BUCKEYES in that National Championship game!

I guess the bottom line is that Kris O'Dowd was going to another anyway so the cancellation of his visit had no effect on his decision to not attend Ohio State.

BigBroO'Dowd, thanks for all the updates over the past several months and the best of luck to Kris at his chosen school both in the classroom and on the football field. :)

regardless that is not the way you treat someone, there really is no harm for ohio state to let the kid come up and enjoy the game of the year, i'm sure there were plenty of other kids that don't have much of an intention to go to ohio state, osu and the coaching staff should have been up front and honest

From the USC site...James is still firmly committed to USC and it going there this weekend. Says he has been trying to steer kids to USC wherever he goes.

Hate to think that behind he was doing such while at Thee Game...the article mentions him meeting Deonte while in Columbus. Not something to get worked up about, but just something that made me a little queasy this morning.

this kid is welcome to the game but kris isn't? no offense to james, there is nothing wrong with what he did, but why let a committed prospect who has never said he is entertaining any other schools, just taking his visits to tak them, and not allow an uncommitted prospect with no public verbal?

but what do i know? 2 sides to a coin i guess

Sometimes business is not warm and fuzzy. Recruiting is a business and everyones time is tight. Why waste time when there is no chance of Kris coming to OSU? It might not be the happy choice, but as a busy guy myself, I would not waste my time when I could be spending it with other kids on that weekend that might be a part of our program.

Good luck to him and I hope Big Bro can come back and tell us how he is progressing. I love following kids careeres that we have recruited and always root for them.

Just keep in mind that there are always two sides to the story but only one can be given in this instance. I am not doubting Mr. O'Dowd at all and I am very thankful for both his public and private communication with the BP community. However, I also believe he is setting a perfect example of how this situation should be handled. So with that precedent set, please don't disparage a staff or individual coach who cannot give their side of the story.

Not directed at anyone at all, but moreso to prevent the usual issues in a situation like this.

Best of luck Kris and thanks for everything London.

Let me say this about that ... there really is no good explanation for how the trip to Columbus was cancelled. And, there are good ways and bad ways to handle any situation. In my opinion, lying to a recruit in a manner that would easily be shown for a lie is insulting, invites criticism, and unnecessary casts Ohio State in a poor light. Simply put, Coach Peterson could and should have handled the situation much better. All that aside, Kristofer had all but acknowledged privately that he was going to commit to a school other than Ohio State; so, no real harm done.

The good news for Buckeyes fans is that Ohio State appears to have a silent commitment from a top OL recruit out of Jersey who should make a wonderful right tackle.

Thank you for all your well wishes and kind comments towards my brother over the past few months and GO BUCKEYES in that National Championship game!

thxs for being straight up with us recruiting freaks. Your brother had his picks and picked a great school. I wanted him at OSU but, stuff happens. Wish you all the best but, Make sure he becomes friends with those USC CHEERLEADERS FOR ANY HELP.

Complete speculation here....but maybe the staff wanted other possible OLine recruits to know that ODowd wasn't coming here. The kid from USC is publically going to USC....ODowd wasn't.

Just a guess.
