'07 AZ OL Kris O'Dowd (Southern Cal Signee)

Byers is at guard

They both looked re-donculous last night. O'Dowd amazes me b/c he is so young...but the holes that Stafon Johnson, CJ Gable, and the other 12 high school All-American backs @ USC were able to run through last night were amazing.

I realize that's not the blackshirt D of the 90s...but wow.

Looks like our D-Line is going to have its hands full the next two years... Gotta hand it to PC. He is able to recruit at positions where he is loaded. No one else in CFB history has been able to do that.

edit: I wish we had gotten him...

Why did O'Dowd never visit?? Anyone know? I recall he was dying to come for an official but we kinda blew him off, and then communication just ended..

He's a stud.. it's scary to think of that game next year at USC.. they got so much talent

Steve Spurrier, Howard Schellenbarger, Bobby BOwden......
Over a sustained period of time? I don't know much about Spurrier, but Schnellenbarger did that over a period of just 5 years at Miami. I have heard that Bobby Bowden used to recruit different players to the same position, and ask them to keep silent about it, and come signing day, you'll find out four players have been signed about as highly ranked as you are, and there goes your promise of early playing time. Another factor is, where these kids are from. Have these coaches been recruiting from all around the country through a sustained period of time like PC or just from a region?

I am yet to find an example of another coach consistently attracting players to loaded positions as PC.

Didn't visit because the coaches reportedly told him they were canceling all visits the weekend he was supposed to visit. However, his older brother, who often posts here suggested that he had already decided on a school before his visit. Check previous pages on this thread. True freshman starting at a place like USC probably means once in a decade talent.

It doesn't matter how Bowden did it just that he did it. How long has PC been at USC now? How long was spurrier at Fla.
Point being there have been many coaches who could recruit consistantly.
How about the great Coaches at Neb and Okla?

Have to disagree there. It does matter. How is Bowden doing recruiting-wise now? Once the internet became prevalent (making sure that recruits knew where each other were going), his recruiting powers were curbed. Significantly. True, PC has been at USC for only 7 years now. I'll say that he has shown the ability to rope in about 75% of the guys that he goes after hard. Who has OSU gotten that he went after hard? Rose and Mo Wells? I'm not sure if PC went after the latter as hard as he could have.

He has the ability to not only lock Cal up, but go into another territory and get the player he wants. You can't say the same thing about the other coaches. They stay within a region. If for example, you have a spectacular player in another region, and another player in your region who you have a better shot at, most coaches go for the player you have a better shot at. PC goes after the other guy, because he knows the other guy is better. Including all the coaches at Texas, OU and Neb. Part of it has to do with logistics during that time, but most of it has to do with PC, IMO. You can't argue against that. I'll restate my point that PC is a spectacular recruiter, the likes of which CFB has never seen before. I made a related post elsewhere a while back.
